I'm considering going to a 70 GTQ ball bearing turbo & was wondering how it compared to the TE45A as far as spool up w/ a 3400 9x11 stall? I'm wanting to be able to make good power at lower boost levels since the car will be street driven most of the time. Right now I've got the 45a w/ a 63 housing, but wif I go with a 70 would it better to stick with the .63 or go to a .85? I've also had a CC 218/218 FT cam installed..
I am also kinda/sorta considering the GT67 ball bearing turbo...but nort sure that would be a worth while step up considering what these ball ball bearing turbo's cost...

Had the 45a w/ a .63. That is a really sweet turbo for the street, and strip. I ran 129.5 mph with it. The 70QBB will out perform it at the drag strip, but the 45a is my definite choose for the street. I loved that turbo. This is from personal experience, as I have run both. Brian

Dbb 70

I have about the same build and just got my DBB 70 GTQ and love it..

Did have a GT67, The 70 pulls harder and seems to get better traction with it.. does not make sense huh? the 70 is MEAN! Almost rediculous..

My car is street driven and will see the track once a year..

Alaskabuick.....Could you tell me more about your combo, in particular what stall & cam your using?

Thanks for the info......1 more question, what exhaust housing are you using?

I guess my main concern before buying a GTQ70 BB is that since I drive my car 95% on the street, I wouldn't want to much lag w/ my 3400 9x11 stall combined w/ a .85 housing. (not that getting behind a car length & than blowing right on by isn't a fun thing to do....lol)

Now, in reality, shouldnt a 70 have much more then a 45? Why is a TE45A better? Also, shouldnt a TA49 be larger?

The 70MM Precisions are rated up to ~850MAX HP
The TE45 turbos use either a 63 or 66MM compressor wheel. ~750 MAX HP
The TA49 uses a 58MM compressor wheel. ~545 MAX HP

I have used both also. The 45 is a great turbo, but doesnt compare to a 70 GTQ BB....no way no how!

is the 70 GTQ bb capable of high nine's? , i'm in the market for a new turbo also before reading this i was leaning towards a PT72GTQ std bearing, but i'm hearing how much faster a BB turbo is makes me think twice:confused:
