SignUp Now!in a 3 bolt ex housing tnetics made both the smaller .63 and the larger.82,so did garret.pte makes a .63 (closer to a .72)which is oversized and a larger .85 that is also oversized.the tnetics/garrett housings are lighter, pte are heavier castings.the effects of ex housings greatly effect the spool time and response of the turbo,as oversizing will lead to turbo lag, undersizing leads to an increase in back pressure, proper sizing leads to a combo with low turbo lag and the ability to get the car moving right off the throttle.the initial opening on the tnetics housings (slightly under 2.5 inch)regardless of size are a little smaller than the pte at 2.5 also.A lot of talk, both positive and negative, on a the effect of a smaller exhaust housing. Particularly different brands which are similarly listed as the same size.
How does the Turbonetics exhaust housing stack up to the Garret and Precision?
a .63 ex housing from turbonetics has run into the 9 sec range on a turbo buick, stock stroke 3.8 on both iron and alum heads,on a real street car.but so has a garret and pteHow does the Turbonetics exhaust housing stack up to the Garret and Precision?
Street Car?Would replacing a pte .63 exhaust housing in a 67mm turbo to a Turbonetics .63 be worth the time and effort to have it machined to improve spool time?
try the turbo the way it is,then if you dont like the response you have a choice to swap the housing or get a new converter.I am moving to a 67mm turbo and am already expecting a lazier spool with my PATS 3200 lock up.
I realize my TC is thought to be good for only a row boat anchor but I also have this Turbonetics .63 sitting on my workbench.
yes.i have thousands of logs and thousands of hrs tuning and rd these cars.even logs of a 10 sec 49 car that had egts of 1250/1350 degrees with a garret .63.Does anyone have actual logs of a nine second or low 10 second car with a true 63 housing? Seen logs posted whipping 49 / .63
initial opening on a tnetics ex housing is just under 2.5 wide.because it’s so freaking small! like 1.5” wide

my 49 car back in the day ran a best of 10.67 on a garret .63 with the egts that i wrote.the .pte .85 exhaust housing was the slowest tested at the dragstrip in both mph and et,the pte .63 recorded the highest mph,the garret.63 et'd the best.my friends car went 10.7 on c16 with a 44 and garret .63,he didnt log anything,i did on my car.running all the boost is only 1 part of the equation when you say all in.Hmmmm I have log saved Bison ran 49 .63 ran it for all its worth... you ain’t putting that tiny 49 .63 on my car and whipping it that hard lmao.
the pte is almost exactly the same size on the initial openingAll that exhaust gas out that little tiny opening?
