Just thought it would be interesting to see how fast all you hot air guys are and what mods to get you there. I haven't run mine yet but will post the times when the tracks re-open.

12.9@ 110mph. Ta49, ported intake, KB headers, 2.5" DP, and a Spearco FM IC. Boost was only 13psi due to a plugged catalytic convertor. It had a lot more in it but I'll never know what it might've run with that combo.

DOnt Know

Mine has 2 1/2 downpipe, atr pitbull muffler, and 3 inch exhaust, but I am waiting to juice up my turbo and I/C the mofo. probably around high 14s

Ta33 and spearco- 12.6@ 108.5--- 1.8 60'

ta49 w/no stall and power stroke intercooler 13.0@110.1--2.3 60' new headers, 3" down pipe and a 2800-3000 stall has want on the car after this time.

looking for high 11's when the track opens.

14.2@96mph, street tires, pump gas, no alky, plenty of KR, NO INTERCOOLER, and WIPED CAMSHAFT.
Cant wait till Spring! :D

13.6@98mph 1.9160ft

18psi boost
home made cold air
cracked open stock dp
electric fan
atr replacement up pipe
jay carter 93 chip 17* timing

235/65/15 bfg radials

Stock headers, stock turbo, stock tranny, stock longblock...

87 ECM, ram air, Hooker dual exhaust, regulator, hotwire, upgraded pump...

Max boost at 14 psi...
Launched with 3 psi...
1.99 60 foot on dirt track tires (stock posi not working right)...
14.47 @ 92 mph
This with a badly slipping tranny

Current upgrades (no times):

John Craig turbo (the BIG one)
ATR headers and crossover
50-lb Kenne Bell injectors
stock TB bored to 62 mm by Jay Jackson
fixed posi, but not tranny yet

Current issues:
stock downpipe and WG are not adequate with this turbo, it will NOT spool at all, and with the stock D5 convertor, will NOT build ANY boost on the line (can't even do burnouts on wet pavement). Tranny is still slipping bad, and the car leaks every fluid under the sun...but I'll still never get rid of it!

Convertor and downpipe soon to come :-)

See sig......my car needs a fuel pump, I have a TTA/SyTy pump that is 5 years old.

Hoping for 12.6's with a pump and 87ECM (along with the dreaded tuning) this year.

Of course I've said this for three years now.

I'm planning to get into the 11's without the alcohol then apply alcohol and retune. Have a couple mild upgrades in the works.

To bad ya had all the problems with the tranny this year. If not you might have hit the 11's this year. O well hope to see it running the # next year.

Jason, I'm thinking that if the transmission that was just fixed with the trans brake even hits half as hard as he said we will no problem. Thanks,,, :p

Simply put, in 1987 the GN got alot of free press, every trendy with money in their pocket jumped on the band wagon that year. They also decided that rather than drive their cars they would let it collect dust and depreciate in value.

The Hot Airs on the other hand have been run hard for 18-19 years and are much, much rarer than the intercooled cars.

You like to the smell of manure? Why buy a house in Gilbert? ;)

Dude;

Hot Air cars are ALWAYS broken!!!

Can I get an Amen.:D

Easy Turbo! Just an observation. Just wondering if the hot air cars had allot of issues. And maybe I do like the smell of cow dung. It makes for good BBQ parties.:D

mines not broken, but the turbo is leaking oil. should be a bit faster with all of the blades...
