How fast was i going?

Ok heres the story, I was out, long flat straight, highway, 11:45pm, noone around, not ONE car...


I was feeling good and the fuzz buster was quiet, so i thought what the hell, why not?



so... what did i do? hammer it...

speedo was tapped out... way past 85 lol...

The tach said i was hitting 5200-5300 RPMS in 4th/OD

Then it started getting unstable so i backed out of it.

Took like 6-7 seconds of mild braking to get back to the 85mark.

How fast was I going, cause I dont have a clue, And for some reason I have come to believe that it was past 124mph (I have a chip).



PS: My car is 5mph faster than the speedo.

Kinda the bad thing about being on a rock. Can't hide from HPD. Ha, not to mention, there are roads out here that straight!

Not enough info, first off people would need to know
A)tire info
B)rear gear ratio
C)you had a stock 200R4 versus say a TH-400

If your car is 5 mph faster then the speedo, you've probably changed something I'd bet on tires. If you were in OD and at 4800-5K with 3.42s in the back and a larger tire 130s into 140 would not be impractical IMO.

Is this measuring with the stock tach?? Because if that's the case, then in OD at redline I'm barely doing highway speed.

I'd guess you were going around about 150.

If you were reading 5300 on the stock tach in 4th, you could be going anywhere from 130 to 170 mph. The Stock tach is that inaccurate.

Nextime you want to make a Banzia run, throw a GPS on the dash.

Then there won't be any guessing.

Good idea!

The first and only time I opened mine up the whole way was racing an Impala. The car was getting floaty around those speeds with weak shocks. Now that I have good shocks, I would put better wheels/tires and brakes on the car before I'd consider it again.

BTW, the guy in the Impala said we were doing 145. I couldn't shake him, he couldn't catch me. I was ahead the whole time.
