Just wondering if a 3 inch downpipe, no cat and 2.5 inch dual exhaust with Pypes race pro mufflers can go low 10s without being a cork for the engine?? How fast have you gone with 2.5 inch duals? Thanks

dual 2.5" will flow a lot more than your 3" dp

Grey racer what mufflers are you running?? Yeah i told my friend im helping it really should have a 3:5 inch dp and a single 3.5 exhaust or dual 3s but he wants to keep it a bit quieter and i totally understand but i dont want to kill the power.

are you serious?? 2.5" inch duals 10'50s???? im looking for an exhaust and i just threw away my 2.5 inch exhaust thinking it wouldnt flow that well,

I'm only running high 10s with dual 2.5 exhaust, Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers and 3" downpipe, but I plan on keeping this exhaust into the low 10s.

3.5"dp with 2.5" dual will go well into the 9's on a turbocharged engine. Plenty of guys have been 135mph on a 3" dp. Someone went 142mph back in like 1995 with the atr dual 2.5". Go with a larger pipe if you want to add weight. Have a nice day.

Thats what I keep telling people. But I am told that I need a 3.5" DP and dual 3" exhaust for my combo.

It's funny what people tell everyone. There may be a few hp there but chances are you could look somewhere else and pick up a bunch of road hp which will actually make the cat quicker without spending anything. I have a TH dual 2.5" on my blue car. It's so well built I wouldn't doubt it could run low 9's with a straight through muffler. The area where the flange is is huge.Cross sectional area will dictate flow as long as there is no restriction rearward. Going from a 3" dp with a single 3" to a dual 3" will do nothing but add weight.

i see you guys are running the atr dual's how about the pypes race pro? anyone has any positive comments on those im about to order them

I have a 3 inch downpipe and ATR 2-1/2" exhaust. I have made back to back runs at the drag strip with the dump open and closed (through the mufflers). There was no difference in trap speed, which means no difference in HP. This is on a car that goes 119 or so in the quarter, a little shy of 500 HP at the crank. This same exhaust combo can support tens easily.

Learning to tune your car is free. Paying for downpipes and exhaust systems that are too large can be very expensive, although it seems like more and more people are just throwing money at things in the hopes they will magically work.

Good thing you asked, asking others who have experience can save you a lot of money.

Good Luck,

Mike

I'm doing it...10.2's...ATR 2.5" dual exhaust...3" DP...Magnaflows and I'm not done yet...if I can get my crappy 60 fts down I will be in the 9's...

I have a 3"TA DP & the Pypes 2.5" duals. I have not installed it yet so cannot comment on performance yet. I can take measurements or post pics of certain parts if that will help.

I was able to examine the Pypes kit on another GN while the car was up on a lift. Smooth runs & plenty of clearance. I haven't heard of many complaints about installation. Seems like most of the complaints are that the pipes may need to be trimmed for length & that you have to drill 2 new hanger holes.
