The Cars e Drove In The 50s & 60s

Cool website....I enjoyed it.

The original "Hot Rod Lincoln" is, or at least was, stored in a car museum 2 miles from my home, just south of Chewelah, WA. During the grand opening of the museum a few years back, I met Charlie Ryan .... he was standing beside the car. The car itself was pretty beat up. He said he'd kept it like that on purpose so everyone could see what it was like back in the day.

That was really cool! I sent it to my Uncle who according to legend was a speed demon! (I think it runs in the family though ;) )

Wow....that was REALLY cool!! Now, not looking to steal thread BUT what memories do you have from your 'youth'?? I remember my dad's chopped 49 merc, and 56 Chevy. Also, my brothers(all older) had musclecars growing up in the mid 70's-early 80's including:

1971 Dodge Super Bee 440-6 auto (Limelite Green)
1967 Firebird RAIII 400 4-speed (Gold)
1969 GTO 400 4-speed (Ver. Green)
1968 Plymouth GTX 440 auto (Green)
1969 Satellite hipo 360 (Roadrunner clone)
1971 Plymouth Duster 340 (orange)
1974 Dodge Challenger Rallye 360 (dark red) mine:)
1968 Dodge Charger R/T clone (Hemi orange) mine:smile:
1971 Chevy Nova SS 396 4-speed (mine)
1971 Buick Skylark GS (clone-yellow) mine:smile: (my 1st Buick!!)
1973 Plymouth Sebring Plus 360 auto (mine)
1979 Pontiac Trans Am (black) mine
1987 Buick Turbo-T (drk red met) mine-still own
1987 Buick Grand National (mine) still own
Theres more but you get the idea. What a great time to grow up!!

EXCELLENT!! Everytime I hear the song "Little G.T.O." I get a little sick to my stomach. Back in the day all I wanted was a Goat. Finally I got a 1964 G.T.O. the full deal 389,trips, four speed and it was convertible. Five days later a broken crank, blown trans. and no more G.T.O.'s for me. :(

That sucks....I would have liked one, they were such a good looking car. What year did you get it? And what happened to it?

Greenoe,

What the heck did you do to it?

I was rolling over some railroad tracks and when I got over them I nailed it , power shifted second gear and BANG. The dasboard looked like a Christmas tree with all the lights on. Put it up on lift and cranked it over the flywheel was turning and the harmonic balancer was stationary! I rember back then finding a GOOD used 389 was almost impossible. i rember callig several guys that had G.T.O. parts for sale and they ALL said "you are going to have a tough time finding a good used 389 the cranks a very weak" Yep I figured that out. I ended up trading it for a 1966 Mustang 2+2.
