Is your gripe Buick and TB.com vendor specific, or just a general gripe about parts vendors?

So many times I've seen people come here and blow somebody up, MF them, and generally raise hell and then come to find out they've not even attempted to deal directly with said MF'ing vendor.

Two or three days later, AFTER they actually talk with each other it's all smooches and hugs.

I guess I've been fortunate enough to deal with good people here. I read about who's selling what and pay attention to what is said before and after the sale so I feel pretty confident in whom I choose to buy from.

I'm jus' sayin'.

One thing that helps out is Pay Pal...You have some recourse if you use it...If I buy a big ticket item over the net weather it is here or else where I will only use P.P. I have had a few problems in the past and once P.P. is contacted they will put the ball in motion and contact the seller. Often times that is enough to get them off there butts.....Has worked this way for me anyhow.....

Go to the feedback section.....

After payment i will not wait over 1 week for parts unless it was agreed to before hand.
On a regular trans action i WILL call the CC company and cancel the transaction. And if the vendor has a legit "STORY" then we can charge it again and start over. This waiting for ever with BS stories and excuses is not going to happen.
HMM who is the next vendor on the list ? Time to call some one else.

You use your credit card for regular trans action? :D

Like I have said time after time.. You sell the part an get the guys $$$$ SHIP the damm thing right out !! If you can't DON"T advertise it !! Pretty simple.. Thats the way I use to do it. Have to get my butt back in gear an get rid of all this junk

Guys, do me a favor...go read my post in the feedback section....I don't think I'm being unfair. I sent payment via a postal money order (which I was a little leary of) as requested by seller on April 28th. Was recieved on April 30th. Even if I'm supposed to believe the bullshit about waiting 10 days after depositing funds, we're almost 3 weeks past that now. Again, this is not an issue of I think I'm getting ripped off, it's piss poor customer service. I did everything seller requested, spelled his name right, sent a detailed list of what I needed, etc. etc. by regular mail, and pm's here.

I can give you some perspective here, as a long-time vendor for turbo Regal parts. Back when the cars were hugely popular, we could not build enough parts to satisfy the need. So we grew, added personnel, and was almost always able to ship orders the same day. Now remember, there might have been a TOTAL of 70,000 turbo Regals ever built and sold, and this includes the hot air cars. So the market is very small, as compared to say, the Mustang crowd. Nevertheless, we always had the passion to keep the parts going. Back in the late 90's and early 2000's, Caspers business was virtually 100% Buick parts.

Fast forward to June 2012. Caspers business is exactly 2.8% Buick parts. Our current resources are concentrated on very large quantities of parts - we currently supply GM and many other companies on the OEM level - and this is what pays our bills. Our 16,000 sq. ft. facility is virtually maxed out today.

We started as a GN electrical parts supplier, and we still supply electrical parts currently, but not nearly the quantities of the early days. By necessity, we have gone in other directions, mostly just to keep the business going. We used to stock 100% of the GN parts we manufacture and sell, but today, maybe 20% are actually stocked. There is no percentage to creating inventory for parts that rarely sell anymore (we pay tax on inventory like everyone else). Components are now difficult to purchase, many items have fallen to obsolescence, or disappeared altogether, so it's getting to be a trick just to find era-correct parts. Our website is not tied to inventory, so you could order a part, pay for it, and not have it available to ship that day. In spite of this, we try to get parts in your hands in a reasonable amount of time, but sometimes, it may take days or even weeks to ship. It all depends on the part.

So I guess I don't want to make excuses, but it does happen with ALL vendors for parts that are low in demand on a limited vehicle that's 25+ years old today. The percentage of GN vs Other parts we produce is regularly shrinking, and from a business standpoint, my accountants tell me we should not even be supplying turbo Regal parts. But I still have a passion for the car (I have four turbo V6 powered vehicles) so I'm committed for now. But it gets tricky; add to the mix, our "competition" who continually and systematically clones our designs and undersells us whenever it can. It's hard to justify a new design on a product when you have blatant copying - especially in the shrinking turbo Regal market. And all of us vendors who actually do the design work are going through this. Look at how many vendors have fallen off the charts in the last ten years. You see the trend going on.

So don't be too harsh on vendors, but don't tolerate too many excuses either. Just try to understand where we all are coming from.

Right now I am talking about almost 5 weeks from someone with USED inventory right in front of him...1 or 2 states over from me..=1 day shipping...I got boned by Tubonetics on the other coast, and still didn't take as long....

Unbelievable how some of the board members/vendors get angry at you and give attitude because you want parts that you PAID for weeks and months ago. I've had problems with 99% of the people I've dealt with on here. Sent payment over a MONTH ago. 2 weeks go by, so I make a call. "Sorry, I was sick for a week". 3rd week comes and goes. Another phone call. " Sorry, I lost your list". Ok. HOW ABOUT A F^&%$$KIN PHONE CALL TO LET ME KNOW???? Finally get parts a few days later, and 1 of them is defective. Here we go again. Supposed to have been here last Sat. Phone call again. "I guess I have to go to Fed Ex and see what's up. I'll call you back" Yep, you guessed it...no call back and no answer now. But "Do me a favor and leave me good feedback in the feedback section" !!!! Again, the thing that pisses me off the most is that you're left hanging because nobody ever returns a fu@#$@king call!!!

If you had problems with 99% of the people you deal with you should change your circle then. I have dealt with many people, venders and members, and have not had a problem with any of them. Do a little research before you buy parts and most likely you won't get burnt. Problems happen in life, even to people with TurboRegals, and most of the venders, as John Spina has just verified, really don't make a living from the TR stuff, but do it out of a passion. I really respect the venders that continue to support our obsession. Most of the long time venders here have integrity and are stand up people. That doesn't mean we just give them our money and our firstborn and let them take advantage of us but I would give them a little more slack than most, though most of them don't need it.
Case in point would be when Brian's wife passed. People were so mad that he was shipping stuff late or not answering calls. The man just had a tragic, life altering event. I could wait a little for him to grieve, but some people were selfish. I look at us as an extended family here.
I don't know the particulars of your transaction with James but he 'seems' to be honorable. I hope that it works out for you. Let's be fast with class, we don't drive Mustangs y'know :)

I don't know what circle I'm supposed to be in....I did research, and went with some of the most recommended guys on here, and still had problems.. Some of it was 3rd party through them, but some was directly from the horses mouth. I lost the use of a shop because my car sat waiting for 3 weeks for parts that were promised (and PAID for) at a certain date from Tom at Champion and GBody Parts!! I'll be fair and tell you all that I talked to James yesterday and the problem is with FedEx. But it's still HIS JOB, and any other vendor, to follow through and not leave me hanging for a week at a time.
