how much does it usually cost to have someone tune your car? i was thinking about going down to KDK performance and having them do a tune on my car...just do a few lil tweaks and make it run a lil better...how much would you say this would run me?

because the car seems like it is idling a little rough and off of the line if im' at a dead stop then give it gas it'll hesitate for half a second then go...so i was thinking just having him do a tune on it...

i think cal hartline worked on the car before, but now that im not close to melborne KDK is alto closer then hartline performance is..

Check my sig, Eric sells some good chips that will make your life alot simpler by running his chips.

As for dialing the car in, depends on combo and what your looking for.....

whats your setup?

my car used to idle like it had a 300 duration cam in it then i got erics chip and now it purrs like a kitten plus can run 3 more pounds of boost and no knock and no hesitation

my car right now has a scanmaster, TE-44 turbo (im pretty sure), 36lb blue tops, Maf translator, open exhuast, and a shiftkit, and i think a Pitbull chip?? i dunno how do i check?.. do i have to change anything when i install eric's chip?

the car is a daily driver at the time being but im saving up for another car to be a DD..

all i want is like a mid-low 12

no just give him your sig and away he'll go takes a couple of days plus you can adjust timing in 1/2 and 3/4 with the air condition knobs if you want to run race gas and turn up the timing

Open the hood of your car, locate the battery, disconnect the ORANGE pigtail wire, this is the power to your ECM... must unplug it before removing the chip

Incase of static electricity, touch a piece of metal before handeling the computer....!!!!

Passengers side floor kick panel is where the computer is at, pull the kick panel out,and look at the back side.
It may be possible to remove the small 2"by5" panel with 1/4 inch screws without pulling the ecm out of the kickpanel.

Take one screw completely out, loosen the other and see if you can open the lid and slide the cover open.

The LARGER chip is the one you want to pull out, carefully tug on it with your finger tips on the outer edges.

Look at the underside of the chip and it should show what chip you have...

Report back to this thread and let us know what chip you have.

Erics chip will keep your car from dying like that pitbull chip may be doing

okay not a pitbull chip i dont think..the front of it has an "I" and thats all i can see because it is covered by a little white sticker and with handwriting on it it says

Street 93
36# 20*

and on the back it says
GE S403

Made in Phillipines

any idea wtf this is??

oh yea i think its an open loop chip because the BLM's stay at 128 at idle and dont move...

i dont know what BLM means or what open loop chip means but i remember reading that if your blm's stay at 128 during idle you have an open loop chip lol

Well, the decal shows 36#, thats shows you what injectors the chip is set for, your bluetops
20° is the WOT timing the chip is set at.
Street 93 means its a street chip burned for 93 octane gas.

How often does the car die? Have you cleaned out the IAC located on the lower center section of the throttle body?

Nothing special to run erics chips. Just let him know what parts and stuff you have under the hood

the car never dies..just hesitates off the line...and no i have not cleaned out the IAC..

Oh sorry, i thought it was dying.
Hesitation could be many things, and sometimes just the chip.

Does your chip look like this? I think its a Jim Testa chip, im not sure...

well it has a lil sticker on it like that..but i think there's a blue I underneath the sticker..

Funny, I've never done that, and change chips at least twice a year. I believe that Thrasher actually tells you that you don't need to plug/unplug the orange wire.
If you just need a basic tune-up, and it sounds like you do, that should come in at a couple hours shop time- don't know what KDK charges for that. Maybe a little more, if they change plugs. But to set the TPS, and the IAC, and check fuel pressure, should not be too $$$, and is about all you can do for a "tune up". Maybe clean the intercooler and the throttle body, kind of like the "spring cleaning" from GNTType.org.

if car stumbles off the line check, maf, fuel pressure, ground cables, cam sensor, and last but not least TPS.. let us know what you find.

I was under the impression that you were asking about a dyno tune. I believe around me its like $360. But then again everything around here is expensive...

damnit you jinxed me ..2nite it almost stalled when the engine was cold, i started it up and put it in gear and then it almsot died out then i gave it a lil gas then it was fine...

my IAC when in gear at a stop light was like 9 or 11

but in park my IAC is 00 ???

what does that mean???

Hi,
Check TPS, then start to think about what the engineers call minimum air flow. Has the tamper proof throttle screw been messed with? Anyway, it sounds like a throttle problem. Good luck!
