what do you guys pay for c16? Also, where can you get a 55gal. drum, and how much is it?

I pay $7.50 a gallon at the track here in Tennessee. I've never asked about a whole drum because I didn't think they would finance it for me! :D

53 gallon drum of VP C-16 in Ohio goes for $425. Ouch. Might have to start making trips to Maryland. Fortunately, I only use about a gallon per pass.

I feel VERY lucky to get it so cheap! How many of you guys do go for getting it in big drums?

Jason

I buy it in 5 gal. cans . I guess the 55 gallon drum would be cheaper . Hey 93 pump gas is at $2.05 a gal here now , aahhhhh the taxes N.Y makes one pay . Cant wait to get out .

I get mine at a small local speed shop in Alliance,OH., it is $8 a
gallon. They carry most of the VP racing fuels and they are all
cheaper if bought by the drum.

116

Local guy here who sells Sunoco 116 for $4.50 gal. plus tax.He delivered a 55 gal drum to me this past spring for $256. Same price if you want your 5 gal container filled. I have a friend from central Ohio who comes over for fuel.
I believe his Maximun 118 is $6.50 per.

$17.05 per US Gallon    is what we get raped. It's a mere $12 + change on the 55 gallon purchases. Gotta love the Canadian peso. FWIW I have to make a hair under $40 gross to net that $17.05 thanks to our tree hugging non-english speaking twit 'leader' and his fair tax system! Not that I have an opinion on the subject

116 isn't the same as C-16. Many tracks advertise race fuels like Sunoco blue as 116 when in fact it is really more like 112.

Sunoco has a 116 but it is red and I have never seen it at a track.

specs for Sunoco can be viewed here The motor octane is 110

compare that with c-16 here The motor octane is 117

There is quite a difference. In Charlotte c-16 is 7.75/gal

Hey were are you located? Man Torco 116 race fuel is 8 bucks a gallon here...

Lee is located about 35 miles NE of Naptown. We both buy our fuel at the same place and his #'s are correct.

at the rate unleaded is going up, 116 will be cheaper before long

V6 Beast,
How do I know if I'm getting the right fuel? If I go to a local speed shop and ask for C16 by that name, am I going to get that fuel or some thing with a lower octane rating? Also, is C16 the best fuel for our cars? Will going to even higher octane fuel then C16 yield any benefit? Any chemist or chemical engineers out there to give me the strait story on fuel?

Thanks,
Jason

Well,C-16 is blue for those that don't know and it is also 9.00 a gal here too.I am looking into getting a drum.

The only way I know is the check the drum they are getting it out of. You can't go by color because the Sunoco 110 is blue. Even then they may be filling the drum with something else. I haven't heard of anyone getting c-16 for less than $7/gal these days since VP Fuels raised their price to everyone almost a year ago. You notice no one posted a price even close to $5/gal. I think c-16 is about the best gas out there for our cars I have have run upwards of 28 PSI with no knock using it. VP has some higher octane fuels,Check out VP Air race on that link I posted earlier, but I don't know anyone that has tried it and I don't even want to think about how much that stuff must cost. The place I get mine at, I see sealed unopened drums and the last time I helped open a brand new drum. Maybe they bought a bunch before VP raised the price but I would look at the drum.
