How much trans fluid after rebuild??

Following a transmission rebuild, how much fluid should I put in prior to startup? I already put 1/2 qt. in torque converter but not sure how much I should put in before I check it out on my jack stands. Thanks

I recently replaced torque converter and changed fluid (removed pan and changed filter). The torque converter holds more than you think. It took over 10 quarts to refill my trans. I think an O/H takes in the neighborhood of 11.5 quarts.

converter should hold 1 qt
with trans installed and all lines connected ,the tv cable installed driveshaft inplace , torque converter bolts tight
dump in 5 qts through the fill tube
start car
put in reverse(on jack stands and block fron wheels )
immediately start adding up to 4 more qts while running
let it come to temp
then try forward gears
then with car level and running in park check level again and fill as nescessary , it was recommend I run it about a qt more than the full mark for racing (fluid level at the firts bend)
