I've got my PAC kit officially hooked up and am slowly working on cranking up the boost, I'm at 24lbs now with no knock whatsoever. My goal is 25-27 lb's and that's it (As if that's not alot!). My question is, I'm noticing a little hesitation and slight sputtering in the lower boost ranges as the alky comes in (around 10-12lb's). I'm assuming it's because I don't have an alky chip and I'm getting to much fuel at that point. It's not severe, but definitely noticable. I'm adjusting the boost with the stock wastegate and a manual boost controller I bought off of eBay (Doubt if that makes any difference, unless the sputtering could be related to the MBC??)
Also, once I get my boost set to, say 26 lb's, should I keep adjusting the adjustment knob back a little at a time until I get a hint of knock, then adjust it back up a "smidge"? I'm guessing that the least amount of alky I run without any knock is the best bet and might help out with the sputtering.

Any comments are appreciated :D

The alky chips trim out fuel so you don't run rich. I would definitely get an alky chip. I love my TT chip. The alky comes one and if I didn't know it was there I wouldn't notice it. HTH. james

get one asap also never trim alky or turn down always take fuel out of chip

Not sure I'm following you... Is the knob not there for the purpose of making adjustments? If I'm not getting any knock, why would I not trim back the alky some? . Seems to me that you could do it either way, either trim the fuel, or trim the alky, with the goal being the right balance. I'm just thinking if the alky should be fixed with no adjustment, why put a knob on there?

Not trying to be a smartass, just trying to learn as I go :) . I do plan on getting the alky chip because i like the fact that I can tune the new TT ones with the scanmaster, I just wondered if it's a critical thing at the moment. Other than the small window of hesitation, the car seems to be running really well on it with the standard TT chip. I know Yullose was also running a standard chip for awhile as well :)

razor says to set a goal and tune from there example 25 psi goal now you drive your car and get to 25 psi with no knock then take out fuel with chip to get the best mph and a/f ratio the alcohol is there to supress knock and cool charge not to change a/f ratio in motor. now if you start taking fuel out and your mph increases then keep going till o2's or a/f wideband ratio is in spec then if you get alittle knock then turn up alky and keep tuning. i am no expert on alky so i am sure julio will chime in. read his tuning sticky

If you have a translator the sputtering may be from that needing hotwired. Wait a few minutes and Razor will be here.....lol.. I think the TT alky chip is the way to go thou.

I wouldn't say alway pull fuel. Theory tells me I want to use as little alky as possible at my target boost because it releases less energy than gas. Empirical science is often different though and what you should do is tune it to whatever makes your car perform best. If that means less gas than so be it. I think you'll be fine with the regular TT chip, but there's no doubt what-so-ever that you'd be better off with one specifically designed for alky. I know my car's manners improved by leaps and bounds when I got my alky chip. Yeah, I couldn't wait so I ran it with a normal one. It was good, but it's better with the right chip!!!:D HTH james

I just talked to Julio today when I ordered my kit and he said (basically) that my current TT 93-94 chip will be fine......just that I'll likely have to bump the timing up a tad. He said it would be better to tweak in my current chip THEN have Eric burn one to my tweaked settings so my default would be right for the Alky kit tuned in with my car. He said the fuel on the off the shelf TT alky chips was unchanged vs. 93-94 TT chips.....it was just the timing that was altered.
