I just noticed in the last 2 days that there is a GN a few miles from my house in a rural area, sitting with tall grass all around it, pressed up against a big evergreen.

The car looks like it has been stationary for quite some while, and I am guessing that it belongs to someone who can't afford to get it back into running shape. From the chrome topped grill, it looks to be an 86, but who knows. From what I could see from the street, the body looks straight.

Here's the dilema...I considered going up to this little house and knocking on the door to see if the owner wants to part with it. But I keep envisioning scenes from the X-Files episode, "Home" Lets just say the place is modest looking. I don't need some backwoods cajuns coming after me. LOL!

So, what kind of approach would you take? I may just ball up and go over there tomorrow at high noon. My buddy says not to drive my NICE GN over there when I go, because it would probably be insulting. Maybe I can borrow someones rusty pickup? :)

Pray for me that I don't get shot as soon as I step on the guy's property......

$$

If it's been sitting, you could get it cheap if you can get them cash quick:)

That's what I was thinking. That depending on the actual condition of the car it could be anything from a parts car to a reclamation project. I need a closer look......

It just shocked me to see an actual GN sitting ther like that. Lookin' all unwanted......;)

Where in northern VA is this? Loudoun County? Maybe I can come with you have a look...I'll bring my .357.:D

True, don't drive your GN or a 2004 show truck(so to speek). They see you have money and they will more than gladly relieve you of some of it.
Down here in Mississippi, you see alot of the cars sitting in barns, in weeds, some with trees growing through the top of them.
Some people don't like this(my wife), but I normally pull in their drive and blow the horn a time or two to see if anyones home. If you decide to go and knock on their door beware of dogs, another Mississippi thing. Most people are polite, but the majority of time their just short with their answer, usually no.
I drove by a '67 Camaro SS, 350, 4speed manual every day for 3 years until I moved last July. The guy will not part with it. It is rusting to the ground with about 2 inches of acorn shells in the trunk and floor boards. Just plain disgusting.

Mista Scott, it's in Prince William County.

I guess I'm gonna roll by in my Regal GS. It only looks expensive when it's clean. ;) But I AM going to get a closer look today. I may take my digital camera for pics.

Well, I just dropped by and took a better look at the car. R O U G H.

I went up to the house (if that's what you want to call this shack) Couldn't see inside because there were blankets draped over the window. I screwed up enough courage to knock on the door, and thankfully there was no answer. THere was also no shotgun barrel poking out the window.

I snapped a pic of the car as I pulled up, if anyone want an email of it.

Anyway, the drivers side rear fender has a gash in it. the drivers side seast is ripped, but the interior looks otherwise OK. The front bumper is twisted. the rear tires are flat. The emblems from teh raised part of the hood are missing. The car was just generally rough looking.

Surprising though...it had plates on it that read Feb '05. I can't believe they have legal tags on it.

I also noticed that sitting in the drivers side floor board was a note written on white paper. "Interested in your car Phone # XXX-XXXX, ask for Mike or Eric"

Are Mike or Eric on the board here?

I sent it in your email. it's a BIG pic so it may take a couple minutes to load. Post it or host it if you know how.

Resized........

Man, you REALLY downsized it.

Breaks your heart, don't it?

I don't know if it is past saving or not. Definitely needs a LOT of love to bring her back.

Sorry, man. I just had to keep downsizing it and downsizing it until it was accepted. Folks'll just have to size it back up.

Yeah, that is a sad sight....every time I see something like that I have to just tell myself, 'Well, that's increasing the value of mine.' But really, not knowing what's wrong with it, it's hard to say. For somebody who can bankroll the project, it might be a fun restoration.

ROTFLMAO :D Just let the pigs out of the pen beside the house as a distraction and then snatch the GN. :p

Ahh, I see SOMEONE got the reference. ;)

Seriously, this place is scary. I definitely wouldn't want to wander up there at night.

I wonder what's in the trunk.....

That would be me, in Anguilla. Thanks, I think....LOL!

More importantly, thanks for the props to my car!

Sorry, but where's Anguilla? It looks like Spain or something.

I could never post a picture of myself or people would be saying, 'Look out, in that picture it looks like some tattooed jailbird is about to rip off your Buick!'
