So yesterday's cruise turned up an exhaust leak that I hoped it was the crossover loose. So I spent the afternoon looking for a budding crack when I had an idea.

One of those IR thermometers with a laser sight. With the engine running if I crossed the suspected crack with the laser dot the temp jumped about 300 degrees.

Great idea, but if you are really low buck, cut a 3' piece of heater hose off and use it as a listening device. It works just like a stethoscope for finding exhaust leaks.

Didn't have heater hose and had the thermometer.
