Tom, if I can find time I can help pull your engine. Its pretty easy.
I like the strap too, but never seem to have it when I need it. I use chains and never hurt anything, but I use common sense and place them where they don't rub. Usually in the front/back of the head or intake bolts, depending on the level of completion of the motor.
Also they should make mention that every engine picker I've ever seen doesn't have enough throw to pick the engine straight up. My custom one does, but I've used others and while they do work, you gotta be careful when it snaps loose of the mounts and goes forward.
