How to remove pulley from PS pump? 86-87 style.

How do you remove the pulley from the Power Steering pump without damage? I saw a thread showing a tool to reinstall one from Harbor Freight, and it was mentioned as the same tool as used to remove the pulley.

Is it a press on fit only, or does the allen head fastener in the middle come out first? If so, does the fastener remove in the normal counterclockwise rotation?

The pulley is pressed on. You NEED the tool to remove it or you will destroy the pulley. The tool grabs the little collar at the point of the pulley and a screw goes down the center to push it off. Many auto parts stores will rent you the tool for free, when you buy the pump there....
