anyone use a tumbler? then use the black coating? i would think it would just be cheeper to buy new hardware rather then buying a tumbler, media, coating. but dont know where i would find all the different pieces. what have you guys used?

I used a bead blaster to do mine. Then I painted them. If you don't have acess to a blast cabinet, or a tumbler, Kirbans sells some common under hood hardware, or you could try a local fastener place such as Fastenal...(if you have one of those near you) Don't think I was much help here, but I tried!!:) ---Keith

As stated above, Kirbans sells most under hood fasteners that you would need. Eastwood's and Caswell sells a cold dip black oxide setup that works, just not very durable. The hot bath is far superior for factory durable results IMO. The hot bath is done at most plating shops and priced by the pound. Media blasting and painting with flat black and coated with a satin clear also works well, just don't plan on removing the bolt repeatedly.

I powdered mine.
