and it has a 1 year warranty...............

I wonder if I can get a HP service center to help me out? I bought it on Sears Online as we have no Computer shops close other than local Joe's that build their own.

Anybody have any idea's to help a buick brother out?

TIA

Ty

If you call the tech line they are going to charge you a $100 to diagnose your problem, then try to sell you a new computer.

When they tell you it will be $400 to fix your computer with no warranties or guarantees on the work, you escalate it and they will give you a client manager who will call you in a few weeks and offer to fix it for free, but will wipe everything off your hard drive.

I'm pretty sure you have to pay the $100 for nothing in order to get the ball rolling to where they will fix it for free, which sucks and why I will never again buy another HP product, but I don't see anyway around it.

What does it do, or rather not do?

Connects to our wierless, or any motel wireless for that matter and shows 5 bars but says it will not connect to the server.

Email doesnt work and neither does IE. It worked fine yesterday at work with a direct connection but brought it home to wireless and bam.. nothing.

Had the cable company put in a new HD box (tied to wireless modem) and I wonder if that isnt it... gonna call em today to come chek it out.

If it shows you are connected (bars) but it doesn't route to the internet, it sounds like the encrytpion key is not entered correctly. Do you see any new access points when you are at home now?

Being a computer vendor that sounds like perfect timing to me

Or it can't get IP address from the access point (Assuming here DHPI is turned on).

Wireless button is on.

Me messing with settings on a computer is like a retard in a room full of bouncing balls.

LMAO.....

Try renewing your IP address by following these steps.

1. CLICK WINDOW ICON AND FIND THE START SEARCH BOX.
2. TYPE IN: CMD (ENTER)
3. TYPE IN: IPCONFIG (ENTER)
4. TYPE IN: IPCONFIG/RELEASE (ENTER)
5. TYPE IN: IPCONFIG/RENEW (ENTER)
6. LOOK FOR IPV4 AND THEN LOG ON.

QFT.

So in the Lower Rh corner of the screen find the icon that looks like two computers spooning.

Double click it.

Click the support tab

You should see some lines like.

Address Type: Assigned by DCHP
IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Subnetmask : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Default Gateway:

I've seen some hotel routers though that just wouldn't route, so even if even if everything is kosher on your end it may be screwey in the hotel network.
