Cling and Clang?

OK, the truth shall set me free!

In the inception phase, we brainstormed for business names. Unlike a normal business procedure like getting and using professional advertising and business advice, like something simple, 2 colors maximum, easily reproduced, and readable from a distance, we did the exact opposite!

As the brainstorming story goes...
I said we will make a bunch of performance parts for hot rods (racing term my little brother could relate to). Sarcastically, little brother said "So you want to call it Hot Rod Parts?" I said, no, looking for something not so plain or generic. My other brother said "What else do you plan to sell or make?" I said all kinds of stuff, sky's the limit. Then little brother (sarcastically again) says "Why don't you call it Parts and stuff?" I laughed & said Yeah, HR Parts N Stuff! Then my older brother says "Yeah, Hot Rod Parts and Stuff" It just had to be!!! The 3 minutes were up! :)

I then went home & had a simple Print Shop software program to do stuff with, and played with the name layout/style/color. Had literally 100's of ideas, and people kept going with the arch on the bottom & full color spectrum. Well, as people know our parts, we wanted to do it right & make it look good, regardless of how cheap it could be done a different way. Granted we don't have full color on all our banners & window decals, but that makes it extremely hard to read and way more expensive. Got to have it function in all uses, and be effective for that use. Hindsight & all, I should have went with Max ET or something short & simple, like Summit or Jegs ;) Can't always follow in the guidelines of the so-called experts! Hard to forget it once you see or hear about us, so it kinda has the same effect or more!

We all grew up watching all those shows, and never missed one. They didn't have cool animations back then. This cartoon was people in crazy costumes, acting it out (doing it the hard way) without computers or drawings. Story goes, they made some shows, everything burnt to the ground, and they had to rebuild all the costumes & sets & do more shows. Had a pretty good following & was extremely expensive to put on, but one of the best of it's time. Kinda like a true show, top performance and top quality, not a cheap "barney" production
I have the 7 DVD set, friends got it for me for Christmas :) Maybe we can play them in the parking lots at the Nat's.... Maybe not :)

Here's a site with more pics to bring back memories:
http://bigjohnspropstudio.homestead.com/hrpufnstuf.html People in their late 30's & early 40's will be most familiar with them.

PS- Anyone got any Giant Robot or Ultra-Man DVD's????
The robot with missile fingers & all probably got me started with overkill designs, rock-solid strength, mechanical things & fabrications. Who would have thought? Can you say Impressionable young minds! :D
