ok, replace my vac. block with a billet one. got all the vac. leaks taken care of(i think :D)

here's the HUGE problem, well #1 i'm getting 10 MPG

#2 is i'm getting ALL KINDS OF KNOCK!

#3 the car wants to die when i come up to a light

#4 the car bucks like SOB at like 1500-2K rpms

I get knock a lot. I get it hitting bumps, i get it when i rev in park, i get knock at part throttle. My 02's are around 750-850 and my BLMs are around 116-135, they've actually gone as high as 150.

Now i have a trasher chip 92 chip..and my BLMs are at 105 at idle :eek:

The knock bothers me guy, like for instance, today i was driving on I-95 today, steady 70 MPH bout 70 degrees out today...O2's were at 800 and the BLM's were at 126, HOW THE HELL AM I GETTING 6-10 DEGREES OF KNOCK????(Also it seems to knock more when my tranny slips)

I don't have my boost gauge hooked up yet, stock GTA fuel pump(i have a walbro 340 and hotwire kit going in soon) and a 237 FP regulator.

The IAC's are around 20-27 in PARK, in DRIVE, they're like 70-95(isn't that a bit high?) I cleaned the IAC real good and adjusted it...also my O2's drop to 000 when at a light and my BLM's are at 105(thought my trasher chip locks that at 128)

The stumble problem is bad, BUT IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS WARM, first thing in the morning its fine..its stumbles BAD, and i mean BAD, i have to floor it to get it pased 2K then it takes off.

Now i have a stock 700r4 TC behind it, which is like a 1500-1800 stall rating(new tranny in 2 weeks) What gives with teh stumble??? Coilpack/ignition module? Bad ECM?

I know this is long guys, i appreciate any feedback, i included all the info i can thing of,i'm sure i missed some things so just ask :)

I'm slowly fixing stuff, but can't tackle this problem, also i have the EGR blocked off. The engine is stock, and i have a remaned MAF from Pep Boys(reads 6 at idle, i don't know WOT readings because i can't, my tranny is shot)

that's about right....what happens when you step on the gas? I just can't imagine a GTA pump would be able to maintain any pressure under load...

get a decent fuel pump in there and then start tuning

i don't have a fuel pressure gauge, i understand what you're sayin about the pump

but again, if u can explain to me that if my BLM's are around 125 and my O2's are around 800, that would indicated i'm not leaning out right?

i get knock when i hit bumps, yet my knock sensor isn't loose, my car has its own damn personality lol
 
I don't think it will do you any good to look at things like blm and 02 until you have the proper components in place, the most important of which is a fuel pump capable of maintaining volume and pressure

as far as knock on bumps, you could have something mechanical causing that...I ASSume the TTA knock sensor is the same as a TR knock sensor? (different chassis might make different noise?)

really?

ok i figured since those #'s were ok i should be ok, guess i'll try to get that pump in sooner, any ideas on my other problems?
 
take it one problem at a time.....eliminate the fuel pump issue, and then you can get going!
 
"ARTERZONE" MAF?????

W/ that piece in the mix, I would doubt the car would run at best, at idle. [Have taken AT LEAST 10 of them back!!]
Try the tap test on the MAF. engine running, at idle, rap the maf w/ a screwdriver handle.... engine snorts, fartz, stumbles and/or dies... it's time for a translator!!!

As for the tuneup equipment.. I'm w/ woody and NOT even drive the car until you can tell what's going on w/ the fuel, boost, etc.

If the tranny is a "temporary" thing, the orig. must have been taken out.. is the converter loose??, is the DP hitting the frame, are the grounds GOOD and CLEAN, is the balancer loose, is the fuel filter fresh, has the knok sensor been out and overtorqued upon re-install.

The list goes on and on.. As Woody said, get the basics done first then??

i'll mess with the MAF and check that.

the thing about the knock and stuff is that it doesn't it sometimes, one day i won't get a damn thing, the next i'll get some, its weird

also i was reading that thrasher chips lock the BLM's at 128@idle, um, i'm at 105!!! is my ecm ****ed?
 
Thrasher chip??

The Thrasher chip calls for 45 PSI base fuel... If you are running 42, but don't have a gauge, that's a REAL ???. DO NOT rely on what "someone told you" that the TTA regulator is accurate.. ONLY a good ga. and a GOOD adj. regulator will be enough to get it right.....
If it's knokin and NOT under a load you got somthin LOOSE!!
 
no i have a gauge that i can hook up when the car is parked, what i meant when i said i don't have a guage was i don't like an in car one or something like that :)


i just did the MAF thing, the engine didn't really stumble.(did a little, but it doesn't idle that smooth)

Now chuck, if for some reason i'm running that rich down low(105 BLM) will that cause that bad of a stumble/bucking at around 2K?

i was thinking it could be ignition related as well, that's why i'm getting another coilpack and ignition module just in case :)
 
Oh yeah another thing, my car likes to drive itself. If i'm doing around 20 and let off its like my cruise control kicks on(er well i kinda don't have CC anymore) and the car will slowly just keep accelerating, so something is telling the engine to go. Also if i'm driving and put the car in neutral the rpm's shoot to 1500-1700 and just sit there, now listen to this...if i go to shift into OD the car jumps to 2K right before going in to gear, now if i play with the shifter a litte, push down on it...keeping it in N but right before OD the rpms' jump to 2K, yet its still in N, then if i just leave it in N it goes back down to like 1500, i just don't understand, the whole car wanting to drive itself thing is freakin me out too
 
Tony - I have the trans+ and LT1 MAF for you when your ready.

As for your problems,I think the MAF is one and the fuel pump is another,but I always thought the GTA and TTA pumps were the same though I don't know for sure.

Regarding the knock,I agree it must be something loose especially if your getting knock in park/nutral.When I first got my GTA together I was getting like 10* of knock in park if I reved it to like 2500-3000 and it turned out to be the downpipe rubbing on an unused metal line

u think i can come up next weekend? on saturday..we can throw that T+ and MAF on and maybe u can find what else is going on..let me know man i'm really at my wits end here

That's right. If yours is NOT locking on 128 at idle.....perhaps you don't have a Thrasher. Where did you get it from?

a fellow board member, don't remember the name though, when i get my motor it came wtih a Trasher chip...but i took it out because of the anti-theft, i think someone threw it out when we did the swap,i don't think they realized what it was. I can't remember if it did the same thing with the old thrasher as compared to this one, though the out plastic on this chip is different than the old thrasher, who knows, i'll find out much more next saturday when i bring it up to steve's house :)
 
This sounds very similar to a trouble that I was recently having. This goes as far as the running rich and getting bad stumble at mid rpm range. The problem that was with my GN was that I had installed 38# injectors and TRIED to run with a stock injector Thrasher chip (I forgot to change it with the Lubrent chip I recieved with the injectors). I messed with the fp to no avail. It would run rich and die at mid range then zoom at higher rpm's.

As far as the knock, It sounds like something is banging.
And definitly get the walbro pump and adj. fp regulator in there.
And see what type/size injectors that you have.
