Hughes 4l80e

I called Hughes transmission today looking for a 4l80 trans. They wanted 1899 for the trans ( I was like yes!!!), 1000 for a core (it started to go downhill then), trans adapter (which they didnt have), 1499 for the computer to run the tranny ( what is going on here?), only a 2500 stall torque converter for an additional 525, an analog speedometer cable that was around 80 bucks. He told me that the package would be around 5300 not including shipping. There has to be a better way, I just may have to live without overdrive.

Hey Chris what about the GMAOD hybrid tranny setup. I tried to look at it on the site but no info. On the 4l80e setup what else would I need that you could supply (trans adapter, computer, etc....) Thanks

Go through a Hughes Dealer for a better price than Hughes direct. I got my Hughes 80E through Sallee Chevrolet (now Gilbert Chevrolet at GILBERT CHEVROLET - <cfoutput>#cgi.SERVER_NAME#</cfoutput> (Chevrolet Dealer, GM Performance Parts, Aftermarket Performance Parts, Speed Shop)) and saved $1000 from that, more if you get a good core locally and ship it back to Hughes for the $800 core refund.

Love the tranny!
