Want to buy:
I am looking for a solid roof, under 25K mile, pristine condition, highly optioned, well maintained, stock block ’87 Turbo-T. Astro-Roof possibly considered. Possibly a ’87 GN would be considered. Original owner or few owner car & original paint in pristine condition preferred. Non-Limited preferred. Prefer a car that has already been modified to the extent that it currently runs mid 11’s & mid 400 RWHP & corresponding RWTQ range. Car must have recent verifiable ¼ mile times and / or dyno sheets. Also prefer a car that has had the suspension already modified to the extent that it will not embarrass itself in lane-changing, cornering, freeway on and off ramps, acceleration and / or stopping. Prefer SoCal area but will travel for right car. Car must pass or be close to passing Kalif smog requirements.
I will not consider any of the following: t-tops, dealer installed moon roofs, cages, roll bars, tubs, mini-tubs, lowering more than 1 inch.

Thanks, Ziggy. My current '87 Turbo-T just turned 22K miles a while back. I may never find what I am looking for, but I am going to try. Never hurts to try. I am going to leave the GNX's for the deep pocket peeps around here.
 
oh come on just by reading your sig it shows that you could afford to buy a gnx,
with the property taxes on the rise im pretty sure they'll be alot of TRs out the for sale
 
No disrespect intended, Ziggy, but I no longer get all emotional about a GNX.
Due to their recent value escalation in the last 1.5 years, it is not only the price that stops me, they are worth so much now that any mileage put on them sort of limits their value. I also wouldn't look for the GNX's to hold their value in a bad market as well as some of the cars that have been raising the value bar for longer periods of time. I will be very happy to find what I have listed in my other post. The '02 Z06 is my DD beater so I can keep the '87T looking nice.

hey Gary. I know of a gn that If I remember correctly, has in the 20k mile area. This car is absolutely mint, and sits around. COmpletely stock, w/ original tires from what I remember. I talked to the owner about a year ago, and he's the 2nd owner, and never drives the car. I can let you know its where abouts, but you would have to talk to him and see if he wants to sell. hard top etc. just like you want.
 
Well, if you dont mind a stock GN with a rebuilt trans and has around 10k miles ill see if I can find the guy next time im up near the valley.

Appreciate the thought, Jeff, does the rebuilt tranny have 10K miles on it or are we talking a 10K mile GN with a rebuilt tranny in it?
 
10k mile GN with a rebuilt trans, It probably has 8k-9k miles on it though(the car), he never drives it. He was considering parting with it last time I talked to his son. original everything but rebuit trans.

Appreciate the mention, Jeff, as previously stated, but there is something wrong with a 10K mile GN that has already needed the tranny rebuilt. Neglect comes to mind. Thanks anyway.

I've known this guy for a lot of years. He's in the Malibu area, in the mountains. He has a pristine T '87 with all of the qualifications that you listed 16,832 mi. He also has a GN and GNX. He's a great guy and said he would part with the car for the right price.

What price range are you looking to buy? You haven't mentioned that yet.

Just an approximation---10-12, 12-15, 15-18, 18-20, 20-25, 25 +? It would help the seller.

He asked that you post here, and he would get in touch with you if it's in the range he would be willing to negotiate.

I've never seen T wheels this clean. His garage area has room for over 20 cars. He has a lot of collectables, so he is a bit reluctant to give out too much info. You can understand his position.

Turbo: Without seeing the car & knowing more about the specific car, it is rather hard to even estimate a price. I prefer to let the seller establish the price and I judge and / or assess what the car is worth to me. But considering you stated that the car met all of my requirements, let's see?
The hardtop and or mileage requirements those sound like a given.

Original paint?
If not, how many owners has the car had?
and if not the original owner of the car, how long has he had the car? Is this an original Republik of Kalifornia car?
Is it currently plated and registered in kalif?
What color exterior?

What options are documented as having come on the car?
power antenna?
Power locks?
power windows?
cruise control?
Digital dash?

FWIW, I am looking for a car that is for sale, not a car that the owner will consider selling if the deal is worthy of his time. He knows what his car is worth and if he wants to sell it he should price it accordingly. Thanks for your interest and help.
 
When I said it meets the requirements, it does. EVERY QUESTION you asked is "YES." Original owner, etc. What colors do you like? Why don't you just specify EXACTLY what you want or don't want? Like don't want a tan interior, etc.

You need to mention a ballpark figure...it's only fair. If I get pics of exterior and interior and have you say that you wanted a pink car instead of a green car, it would be silly and a waste of time for everyone.

I'm in the middle, so I have to tread lightly.

IF YOU LOVED THE CAR...what BALLPARK figure are you talking about? Are you looking for a ten thousand dollar car? Would you pay 26 thousand...this is all theoretical. It's what if? Not held to a contract or anything.

Just trying to be fair, as I don't want to buy him with too many variables, only to find out we're talking apples and frogs. :)

I was not being sarcastic. Everything on that list is important to me, but as a part of the whole, and not a part by itself. I will not support a third party transaction as seller, buyer, or go between. I sincerely appreciate your interest, willingness to help, and offer of involvement. Seller establishes price, not the other way around. Thanks again. I'm sure that it's a nice car.
