This is REALLY pissing me off..I'm STILL running rich...

My gas mileage still blows...and today I give it some gas a HUGE black cloud of black smoke poured out of the exhaust with like 0.2*'s of knock. Now i don't currently have an EGR valve..its block off(i'm putting it back on next week)

What can be the problems here? I tried a known good ECM, i'm running a translator+..extender chip will be ordered next week...I'm lost here

FP is 45#'s line off like Thrasher says...the blue tops only have like 7K miles on them....any ideas?

Also my oil smells pretty gassy :(
 
my car is running rich also but it is more at idle.My blm's are 150 at idle and my fp is around 42-44.For some reason my ecm is richening up the mix and my fuel mileage sucks also.I get a little knockin third but what I don't understand is my o2's are good and boost is low(14) and I am getting high blms at idle (150) and at WOT(136).What gives?anybody know where to start?leaking injectors?any other ideas or things I can check?any help will be a ppreciated since I think this is hurting my performance a bit and my wallet from the 9 mpg .I was hoping for a little better mileage
 
hmm, I forgot, I never checked for exhaust leaks around the headers and x-over pipe, I was told this can cause a very rich condition as well right?
 
Also, its seems to be doing this when I'm in the boost, not just driving around normal :(
 
I am at a loss with your car Tony but I will tell you that not having an EGR valve will not cause you any problems.I have one in my car(for looks)but it is blocked off by the power plate anyway(and for that matter so will yours so why bother?)and I still get 20-22mpg highway with a TH400.

Tony, you should change your oil ASAP before bearing damage occurs.. Before adding more parts and getting more confused try and fix your existing setup. It may be as simple as a MAF sensor or your crossed the wires for the injectors when you put the Bluetops in. Bring it to Englishtown for the Nov 10 Buick meet and I will look at it.
 
Ed, the oil is changed very often for just that reason

I'm going to try another MAF to see if that helps. What I don't understand is that my O2's look good at the top of third gear. Though they are around 860 if I punch from a normal cruise(which seems a bit high to me).


I just don't understand, I'm getting very frustrated and my patience is slowly going away..if I can't find a solution to this problem soon I will have to dump this car..I can't have a daily driver getting 9-11MPG :(
 
You can have a little gas in the oil from boosting but, if your dipstick lights on fire you will have bearing problems.

I got my car sorted out with the rich condition a while back (wrong chip):rolleyes:

I'd email TurboBob. You sure the thrashers work with the translator+ okay?

I'd get the chip pronto or another blue top chip to test.

Switching the MAF is a good test.
 
I'll try the dipstick test tomorrow

I really have this odd feeling the rings can't hold the pressure when the boost hits..but I might be jumping to the wrong conclusions or getting myself worked up for no reason...
