I got caught by a news camera today.

I was told by another Officer not seen that the guy I grab had just been given a gun. Acting on his information, I broke my own rule and took action right in front of the camera . I hope the link worked. U have to wait for the videos to load then u can hit the arrow key to find the story titled "Mayor proposes new curfew after teen death" I think I might need an agent now

My cousin is HPD here in Houston and man the stories he has!!! I have always respected the cops I have "met" but after growing up (just a little anyway I'm 33 now) I think that is a job that you just have to have a calling for. Which I can understand I did my time 31-D/R/F USAR. Anyways just wanted to say again THANKS. Jon Hanson

Before anyone says it ....

Yes the camera does make u look 10 lbs. heavier. (I am so going on a diet) No wonder I never got my car into the 10's. By the way that kid claimed he was 6' 2". He didnt have a gun on him (99% of those calls are BS but I have to be focused as if it was legit, my guess is that if there really was a gun it changed hands a few times and most likely ended up with one of the girls in the group. I had a few choice words for the camera guy and his blonde reporter, pointing out the danger he was in being so close to me and the knucklehead. He apoligized and said it wouldnt be shown (yeah right)but the blonde started talking about 1st amendment rights. She's a lost cause and will never "get it". That homicide was the 4th since the new year in my District. So we are averaging .5 murders per day!

You have to do what you have to do! You were very professional! I work in TV so I know how they can be whores and make it worse! We just had several guys hold up a local bar. The news had the helicopter in the air and ground people. Well the guys in the bar where using the TV to see where all the police were coming to them! The news was made kill their shots until further notice. So dumb they just put so many in the line of danger. Glad it worked out for you and thanks for your service and doing your job!

There is this hot traffic girl that used to go out on location and give the traffic report. Well she was in Fort Lee one day and........

I went up to her and started to B.S. with her. Well the news room camera zoomed in on me and her. The Capt saw me on TV and radio for me to telephone HQ without delay. He was fuming and told what I was doing. I told him that I talking with her about personal things. The bad part was my gf saw me and her on TV and chewed me out later.
