Ok guys i got my butt into a heap. The wife wants a 1989 honda Accord LX 2 door manual. She had one in her high school days. She is a little jelos over the Buick she said if i could make love to it i would  !!! So i opend my mouth and incerted foot!!! Asked her if i was to do a car for her what would it bee? WELLLL u can figure it out from there. I will be looking for one come summer so all the help i could get would be nice. I hope that I not the only dumb one.

those arent even cool....dude, put your foot down and by her a buick....

Might be cheaper to get rid of her!

Just kidding, good luck on ur new purchase, just remember, nitrous will work on just about any motor! Spray the piss out of it, U just might like it.

No can do on the Buick she hates them all together (she is not right) opps did i say that  Well it is what it is and now i commited to it so i just a little pile of dog doo doo I will try to do the nos thing.

High mileage no problem I will rebuild it. The rust thing well thats something i will have to live with the only thing aginst me is trying to find one thats in some what good shape. But i got to get the buick done first.

I went thru this same crap with my wife but it was a 1990 Dodge Daytona turbo ES. She had one new and always "thought it was a great car" well about 2 years ago I ran across a verry clean Daytona ES turbo with low miles and a blown head gasket. I bought it cheap and put it back to 100%. Well long story short it wasn't the car she remembered. I was lucky that I was in the car cheap and was able to sell it make her happy and make a few bucks.

YA i hope that it goes the same way here.

The good news is even w/ 250K miles they are just barely broken in. I had an 88 LXi, Sold it in 94 for $7K w/ 160K miles on it....I still see it occasionally, 300K+ miles now. Besides, you are passifying your wife w/ a $2500 car....who else here could get away w/ that....my wife wanted a $35,000 car.

Well if you're stuck with with a 89 accord I think it's time to make a low key sleeper to beat up on all the riced out hondas out there.

Keep the body simple. Single classy color, Clean looking wheels with something stickey on the fronts, may be lowered a little. ( again not ricer slammed) Then build the baddest, boosted, alky snorting, drivetrain you can and shove it in there. :D Think you can fit a rear wheel drive LC2 in there?

Don't do it. My wife drives me nuts with the car stuff. She said the same crap to me. So I went and built her a rust free buick and befor I could have it painted she said she did not want it. I said what untill its painted. She said no. Then we came across an 89 GTA. Love it untill she drove it. She wanted a stick shift. Sold it. I gave up. If my wife wants a car now, she can get it. I give up.

A least i know now that i not the only fool. She wants it all restored she said that she would drive it till the wheels fall off. I would't mind doing the sleeper thing but i would't be able to drive it she will be the one doing that all the time. She will tell me to drive the Regal stay out of my car. seen an 87 2door LX on e bay for $350.00 but it's not the right head lights. Tipical woman.

Think about her.

Those older ones don't hold up in wrecks compared to what has been built in the past few years. Explain to her that her safety is the most important thing! That's why I got rid of my '93 Sentra. They hold up pretty good but, sometimes the wreck is so bad that the vehicle doesn't stand a chance. Is it worth the chance?

My wife wanted a Camry and gave me the Sentra. She was Ok with it but still, there is that risk of some idiot plowing into the Camry. We made a compromise and I bought her a Suburban (2WD), now it's just a few trucks on the road that could create an issue when involved in a wreck.

I used to repair and repaint those late 80's early to mid 90s accords all the time. Sure, they hold up in small wrecks but they crumple real bad when you are involved in anything over 25mph or so.

HER saftey comes first!!!

Good luck finding a 89 Accord with no rust and under 250,000 miles.

I 2nd that. My family all had 80s Hondas....they all rusted out before their time. One area where the General was clearly better than Honda
