Sorry to rant...and I doubt any of you really care about my job, but I gotta vent! I have worked for this dealership for almost 2 years and made some fairly decent money for the little work that is involved in selling cars. But I cannot take this crap anymore.....

The dealership has been sold by the owner to his brother...and this guy is a freakin retard. He fired the general manager that has been here 32 years, he's gone to selling some "as-is" cars that have major problems that we know about and aren't disclosing to customers. Charging employees $1500 over the cost of vehicles because we are "taking advantage" of him when we buy a car at a discounted price...

We get company cars, and I understand that I should be greatful to get a car to drive for free...but everyone else is driving either an 06 Grand Prix or G6 sedan, and I am driving a 104K mile 1994 Lesabre. They treat us like little kids who have never done any of this before, and they will let a customer walk if they can't turn at least $1500 on the sale.

I have a teaching degree and I am looking all around for a way out of here, its just not coming fast enough. I interviewed for a financial planner position with a fairly well-known insurance company/bank and they told me I was too young to take on that kind of pressure and responsibility. What the hell? I'm 23, with an associates and bachelor's degrees and give 100% at everything I do. I guess I'm just frustrated and I really almost wanna go postal, but I wouldn't want to waste good ammo on these damn idiots!

WHEW.....I feel just a little bit better

That sucks

I know what it's like to dislike your job. I hope you find something better!

So.... I guess you wont be posting anymore cars for sale here....

he's gone to selling some "as-is" cars that have major problems that we know about and aren't disclosing to customers

Best of luck finding that dream job..

..owning the 2 cars listed in your sigy(at 23),well you would never have owned them being a teacher,my wife is a teacher and as fulfilling as it is ,it just doesnt buy the cars you want ....

I kind of know how you feel. I also have a Bachelors degree and Iv'e spent the last ten years trying to get off the ground with it. I'm currently training to be a Locomotive Engineer for passenger trains. Sometimes I feel like my college education being wasted when I'm not even putting the degree to use. Do what you feel is best. Who knows with your degree, you could probably manage a dealer ship instead of just working there?

What did you expect working for a dealer. Ive been wrenching in the dealership world for 10 years. Some are better than others, just have to find the right one. Then when you found it some jacka** in upper management or the owner will do something retarded and it will be a horrible place to work, just like the sh*t hole you just left. In my line of work thats why our tool boxes have wheels!:)

"If you find a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life again"

I can't remember who said that but I love it. The hard part is finding a job you like. Anyhow, this does sound like a crap job for sure. I would continue on working but also keep an eye on the help wanted section of the local paper.

Best of luck
Ray

I know I will make it somewhere....but it just frustrates me that someone can watch their business go to $hit in front of them and not even care. I just hope for the best and I guess I won't be here long, but its still sad that some of my good friends will be stuck there.

Sounds like it's time to bail out!

No other dealers in your town or the surrounding area that need a proven reliable sales proffessional? How about some previously owned lots? Ever thought about starting your own or getting into wholesaling cars? It's not for everyone but I'm told it can be very lucrative.

I don't have a degree so I'm not in the "I wasted my time at college" boat and will further say you didn't waste your time. I'm sure you learned alot and picked up many valuable live skills there.

No matter how you feel and don't take this the wrong way but 23 is young. You have a lot and I mean a lot of life experiences to experience yet. I'm near 40 and still come up on new things all the time.

dealerships

i worked in new car dealerships for almost 20 years, always in service finally ending my car career when i could not deal with CSI and its unrealistic expectations of the service writers/techs/managers
i loved the money but just gave up trying to treat people right and not getting paid enough for it
went to work for the railraod and love it...no people and no drama...just work and get paid no CSI here....good luck in your search
i love cars and it is a shame whayt has happened to the car business
