Look at it this way:
The 212/212 FT in a true HA car has gone deeeeeep in the 11’s, while still working on the tune.
The stock FT cam (198 range) in a IC’d car has gone repeatedly 115-118 MPH
The 204/215 FT cam ((??) has gone 123-126 MPH repeadtedly (I did see this one)
A local friend runs repeatedly 87MPH (1/8) in an IC’d car, Stock turbo/IC/TC/22PSI
The 206/206 roller cam has gone in the 9’s.

The flat tappet 208 cam that's in my car now went 9s in Geno's car when he was running a stock block.

Small cams obviously work.

It comes back to power/performance goals. Yes,a TA49 has gone 10s a handful of times. So has a stock cam. But if you're starting from scratch with a target of 10s why would you hamstring yourself with a tiny turbo or a mini-cam?

If you know you want to go fast buy the parts that are designed to go fast.:D

If you post the cam card and the #s don't look good I'd still go with the cam that Lee/Dwayne/Scott run over a 206 hydraulic.

i want a billet turbo thinking about the 6262 im starting to lean towards getting a new cam the 206 roller:rolleyes: more money yeah! now what do i do with this cam that no body wants? maybe i could make a $200 new lamp lol!!

I've watched this for a couple of days and I'm gonna say that there's some good info here. It is 100% correct that it's about building a good combo. To take advantage of what ever mods you are planning you need to look at them carefully to see if they work together or not. Many years ago I started building an NA V6 and started with some wild ideas. A friend of mine told me one one very good piece of advice. Write down your goals, as wild as you want, and put it away for a couple of weeks. Do some research before you look at it again, then decide if it's feasable or not. Good luck on this one and I hope it works well.

I agree with Jerryl
Haven't posted in the hot air section in a long time
But as a old hot air guy (not in a long time) here is my two cents
Been there:
turbomotion setup
87 setup stock turbo
TE44 turbo
Bigger intercooler
Now see mine sig below
Add Cotton's FMIC
SS headers, SS down pipe 46 mm external wastegate
I got tired of reinventing the wheel
There is nothing wrong with the Hot air block used mine
Need more info
I'll post more
