I noticed that my IAT sensor is just plugged in to the pigtail and just hanging free. I always wandered why the temp seems to go up so fast just idling.

My question is how is that effecting my tune right at the moment, and where is the best place to put it?

if you are running speed density the iat is used in fuel calcultions, i like mine in the doghouse, there it will measure the temp as its entering the engine.

Hey kid, can you give me specifics on doing that? Is a specific sensor required? Like one that's threaded? Please post a pic if you can.

I am speed density. Did you cut and splice the wire, or is there an extintion wire to use?

Thanks for the help.

No extension or splice, just pull it out of the plastic loom and it will reach. You will have to thread the plenum so the sensor can screw in

stock sensor works fine , just drill and tap 3/8-18 npt
the stock wire will reach the driverside if you unwrap it from the harness . caspers sells an extension if you decide you want to put it to back or on passengerside .

btw if you are on a TT standard chip it doesnt matter where it is , it could sit on the fender , or in the inlet as it has no effect on the fueling unless its below freezing, but if you log it is nice to know how effective the intercooler or your alky system is at dropping the temps
you can assume that inlet temps before intercooler or alky will be ambient plus 10 deg for each psi of boost , 70deg outside and 20 psi , inlets will be around 270deg pre intercooler , i see 60s after ic and alky at 24psi
