Idle problem after full throttle run

Greetings! I'm new to your forum, and drive an 84 El Camino with an 86 GN drive train. It's painted black, and has a GN front end. I'm having problems with the engine coming back down to an idle speed from full throttle, or near full throttle runs. The engine will almost always die, unless I keep a little pressure on the throttle. The TPS is set at 44, and I've been told I need to set the idle air motor. Can someone advise me of the procedure?
