Would LOVE to have one of these to play with.

any idea how hard it is to write the script needed to run the machine?

(Buzz killer . . .LOL! . . . . jk)

It depends on your knowledge . . . but there are many ways to write a program.
a-Via 3D drawings
b-Via reverse engineering / probing
c-Via some serious basic machine tool programming

Typically, when you purchase such equipment, there are classes included, and sometimes a basic program for the part of your liking.
I have to admit that my programming skills have lagged for some years, as I rely on people that do that for a living. . . . . but it can all be done. LOL!

You can get a smal CNC machine for less than you think from EMCO Jerryl. I've used them before and they're not that big but they work pretty good. If I had one now I'd be making metal emblems for our cars and selling them.:D

I'm a Prototype CNC Machinist ( Mazak Mills ) Your going to need the machine & the software ( We use Mastercam X ) Then the knowledge to post and edit the program, tooling, fixturing, etc. Cool vid, but it's a skilled trade & in no way simple. ( That was a 5 axis program ) Buying the machine and software won't make you anything, takes skills & experience.

Here's a vid of the machines we use. Music is loud, so mute..but can really see what can be done. Addy machine is where company bought this used one.. and is no way an indorsement for Addy..but love the Mazak's :-)

you can get the stuff to retrofit any old Bridgeport mill to be a 3 axis cnc machine, too.

Sure can but most guys don't have the room for a full bridgeport. The Emmco units are faily small but if you want to do badging ect you could do it fairly easily with one.:D

Not to dis.... but CNC means ..Computer Numerical Control... Like to see some badging that looks good done on a hand-crank machine. But give me a PM Charlief1, if you got some ideas.. I'll make ya a part for free and let you run with it... long as no copyright issues. ;)... Have the skills, software, and the machines.

That would ROCK! I'd like to see someone reproduce the 3.8 Liter Turbo hood badges for the earlier cars like mine. And the Emmco units are CNC, just really small. Most of them only work on 3 axis instead of 5 and you can put them on a kitchen table. Used one in college which was a lathe and we had a mill but it was slightly bigger and always broken.:(
