If there were no financial considerations, would you trade your TR in for a new Cobra or GTO (400 HP LS2 for 2005) or ?

Remember, the cost of ownership is the same, forget car payments, operating and maintenance costs, insurance costs, etc., and you will not be disposing of the car.

If not a Cobra or GTO, then what car? Keep it reasonable - say - under $35K, out the door.

???

nope, i think there is something about these cars that most owners don't sell them, in fact we seem to collect more as time goes on lol. Putting money in as a factor, most on here probably have enough to buy both of the cars mentioned but there is just something about these 18 year old shoe boxes that keeps us interested:cool:

I'd sure think about it for one of those hemi magnums, especially if they ever come supercharged with all wheel drive. Other than that, probably not. I have yet to see a Ford product or even another GM product that I would want to own.

I wouldnt. When I was selling my SS I had the opportunity to get a new C5 for under 35K. I declined and went with the GN sitting in my garage. To me, the TR is a car that will always look cool to me. The stance, the body shape, and the motor are all factors in me staying with a TR.

In a fantasy world where we wouldnt have car payments. Yeah, I would give it up for a ZO6 and then just buy another GN. :)

Absolutely not. Not for a Camaro, not for a GTO, and certainly not a Mustang, Cobra or otherwise.

As cool as "Snakes" are, there is very little challenge to building an 11 or even 10 second car with 3 or 4 bolt ons. That's not a "crafted" car, which is what I prefer.

they way i look at it...if i put the money into my GN that a cobra is worth, it would be a freaking BAD car. and it would blow a cobra/camaro/GTO out of the water in pretty much every department.

Yo, Where were all you guys on the "Looking at a '01 Z06 Today thread?.............I wouldn't trade. BUT, If it is your Primary driver I might. If you're gonna be drivin' in snow, rain, traffic etc. I would go with a new car. Warranty...Anti lock brakes...Traction Control...Air Bags....not 18 yrs. old etc. TRs IMHO are in the top 5 best SECOND cars to own. Garage 'em, sunny day drive 'em..Cherish 'em....They don't make 'em any more.

I don't think I read this right the first time. Hypotheticly... No I wouldn't trade. Real Life...see previous post.

NO WAY.

Unless I could sell the thing and get $$$. :)

Then I'd buy another Buick and my old car back. ;)

Nope. My GN was originally purchased by my Uncle in Nov. 87 after much proding from me. He fell on bad health after that and steadily declined over several years until he passed in 94. The car sat under a plastic tarp in my Grandmother's open carport for 2 years, until I bought it from his estate in 96. It was bone stock except for a stock location K&N, and a horrible Hypertech chip. The car was filthy, paint shot, and in generally poor running condition with only 41,000 + on the clock.

After 8 years of loving care, numerous repairs, new paint, and a ton of mods, I could never give this car up. I just know somewhere up there, my Uncle is smiling down on our GN. I think I did him proud :)
