Hi Kevin...I have a MSD DIS-4, plus a Casper's volt booster...works fine...

Claude.

Does everyone run stock:confused:No mods at all? Thanks for the input

Kevin

There are plenty of fast runners using the stock ignition....Well into the 9's I might add.

Just thinking

The reason I ask is I was reading up on the Kenne Bel stuff and just got to thinking.:eek:I know alot of stock stuff out their but do you hot wire the stock ignition like the caspers kit.I see alot of hot wire products used as a stock upgrade. My goals are to keep learnig more about these cars.:confused:Thanks for the input as always

Kevin

I went with the TypeII from a 88 or later. The coil paks were failing too often & expensive. The TypeII uses individual coils & has not failed in 10 years.

I use the volt booster from Red & am considering the KB Boost-a-Pump/Spark.

I was looking at the Caspers hotwire kit as it is a plug and play.:confused:Their was another post about a guy doing his own but I did not want to hi-jack and wanted all the options.:rolleyes:HMMMM

If the stock ignition was good, I wouldnt have to carry an extra coil-pack in the trunk!

why carry one in the trunk ??? They don't just die. They give plenty of warning when they get weaker. How long do you expect a stock original part live ?? I have prob replaced 3 coil packs (weak NOT dead) on my fleet of Buicks since 1986. Guess I am just lucky :p

Hmm, ..I carry one in the trunk on long trips ever since I had one go out during a 4 hour drive ..I know they don't just die ..Yes they do give warning (at the beginning of a 4hr trip it's good, 2hr's into the trip it's failing under heavy load, and on the 4th hour it's failing under any load ...I don't expect an original part to last forever, but if replacements lasted longer than 18 months that would be nice! ..If you have any other ?'s for me ..PM me!
