if you convert the ignition module over do you have to convert the ecm over too?

I changed my ECM and IGN module over at the same time. I can see no problem converting the IGN module with the stock 84/85 ECM. You will need the coil module adapter from Caspers or rewire it yourself. Brad

you do not need to change ecm to convert to 87 ignition module.
buy my harness and just be done with ithttp://www.turbobuick.com/forums/ho...2502-custom-ignition-module-harness-sale.html
all you'll need is a 86/87 coil pack and ignition module. and a adapter plate to mount it to, or just make one yourself

Also decide if you want to go Stage 2 ignition, pretty easy to find at the junkyard.

Seriously though the ECM is one of the weakest links on the 84-85 and if you want to convert now would be the time. You get a lot more data log ability not to mention chips burnt for your set up with an 86-87 ECM.
