I've known about this for quite some time and most others do too. The newer coil/module assemblies that look the same but the connector won't plug in because the indexing tab "thingys" are different. My question is: Is there any way to make these work? If I got a connector from the boneyard that's correct can the wiring be modified to use them? I assume you can't just shave the tabs off of them? I have one here that's wrong and I'm wondering if there's any use for it on a turbo buick.

I have one that has a wire harness adaptor...I was told it was for being able to use a 84 85 module on an 86 87....

Hot airs are different also, the ones I am referring to are actually a bit newer probably 89-90 or so.

Maybe they make the same type harness for the newer styles as well?? Check with Caspers to see if they make anything....

I think you are referring to the "Quick Start" module. Even if you do get this wired up it will not start as the newer modules use a 18x and 3x trigger wheel on the crank for faster starting. People have swapped on the newer reluctor wheels to the crank but it is a bit more work.

Well that would explain it I guess. I wasn't aware that they did quick start that soon after 87. This module looks f'in identical but won't plug in. Coil is useful i suppose...
