Well first off mine fried. 2nd of all I need a new one. But here's where the problem starts I dunno what I need. I want a turbo thats good and that is not small but not too big. What is everyone running. I was thinking about having majestic turbo put a 60-1 wheel in my stock housing. Here's the thing I'm gonna run a 3200-3400 stall so it should be plenty for a bigger turbo. What do yall recomend.

Allan

TA49 in the stock housings is awesome. Spools like stock and makes plenty of power. I've run 4 different turbos and the big ones didn't make a lot of difference until boost levels reached 20+psi then it was a night and day difference. You can go as big as a TA62 in the stock housings, I had one but it lagged horribly with the throttlebody before the turbo. I moved the TB with the TA64 and it spooled pretty good.

with your engine and that kinda stall i'd send it off to john craig and have it built into a ta-62.

I have a buddy who has a te44 with only 4,000 miles on it, eail me if youre interested in it.
Thanks,Dennis

turbo

Well I had the stock one so it was about time. How much does your buddy want for his turbo?

whats the going price to have a stocker rebuilt into a T49?
i was gonna call Limit, but its the weekend so i was curious.
i was thinking of having this done shortly
question is, would a 49 be a good choice on a car with no intercooler? what kinda cfm and hp increase is a 49 over a stocker? just out of curiosity :)

Don't know about the going rate of a TA49 anymore but it's a great turbo from a stocker to mid 11s. I think the CFM is about doubled over stock but spool is nearly the same.

well i think i am gunna go with the t-33c
i talked to john craig, and he says it has the same insides as a ta-49, and blows the same cfm
the only difference, is that the 33c uses the hot air regal turbo housing, where as the ta-49 uses the intercooled housing
he says it costs roughly $775 dollars to have your stocker modified
he sounds really reputable, and seems well know for his work !

this probli is telling ya things u already know, lol
but i just thought i'd chime in !

Lee Thompson had one for sale. I don't know if he still has it, but it does have the biggest wheels you can fit in the stock 84/85 housing. He told me it came with a matching thottle body and it was done by John at Limit Engineering. With the stall that you have or are going to, this would be the one you want! Lee run 11.20s with this turbo. I would buy it, but I have a 12'' 2800 stall and think it would lead into too much lag.

Thanks Ed!!

:D :D

kind of bugging me

the c after a turbo model # just denotes it is the complete assembly, a ta49 and a ta49c are the same thing. just the c means its the whole thing and without the C means its just the chra, no housings. atleast thats what one of the turbo manuf's website said.
