I heard that on some models they used stainless steel ones and that sound good to me. Anyone got a GM part # or know what models had them? It would save some time at the parts counter. Thanks.

You talkin about the little clips that hold the injector plug onto the injector? -I think the ones on my car are stainless, just figured they were the factory ones?

No not the harness plug, the clip that holds the injector in the fuel rail. I know some people don't run them but I want to be safe.

I have to go outside and look, but I don't remember the injecters being held in place by any clips. They are sandwiched between the fuel rail and manifold. There's no way out unless you unbolt the rail. Ofcourse mine could be missing since I got the car, but I don't think there's anything there.

There are factory clips. I ordered a fresh set yesterday.

Well, expect to recieve the clips for the injector harness, cause I've got two stock injector rails in front of me now, and neither one of them have any provisions for clips...I know on mustangs that I've worked on, they had the clips you speak of, but I've never seen them on any of the 20-30 buicks I've changed injectors on... Good Luck

Those clips came on my car. The one rubbed through the ground line for the one injector and caused it to flood the cylinder. After the new engine, I left them off.

You must have unbelievable luck not to come across the clips that retain the injectors to the fuel rail. If you look close at the fuel rail, the bell that the injector slides into has a nice lip all the way around it. The clip has 2 half moon shaped parts that engage the injector which has slots in it. The clip also has a slot on each side that the clip holds onto the lip with.

there are clips that hold the injectors into the fuel rail to make it easier to place assembled fuel rail w/injectors on the intake , they clip into a slot near the top of the injector and have two flanges on sides with slots at base that hug the thin lipped edge of the fuel rail .
mine arent bright they are brownish and i woulnt buy new they are readily available off FWD 3.8s in the junk yards (century/cutlass) unless they come in bright now from GM

I have heard of other people leaving the off too. They must be there for a reason and as far as I can see they arn't hurting anything so on new ones go. I did read a few posts with people that skipped the clip and had the injector push up or down (don't remember) and leak.

My mistake, while I've never had these clips on any of the TRs I've owned (6), I do remember them being on a car I worked on- and I was so used to them not being there, that I was trying yank the injectors out of the fuel rail and wondering what the hell was holding them on...then I saw the clip you speak of. They did not go back on the car though...

My Bad :D

Unless the fuel rail is bent some where, this would be impossible.

The main function of those clips were for assembly line usage - made it quicker and easier to install the rail & injectors.

Ok, got my new clips. Very nice shiny stainless steel, not black like orginals. ACD #217-1424, GM part #24503227 for anyone interested in them.

Yes, all TRs came with clips.

Yes, it's a good idea to puy them back on when you change injectors. What does it hurt?

If your injector harness is rubbing on the clips you should unwind the thing and lay it out - the factory makes a mess of it by looping it around the fuel rail.

what did they cost you?

gmpartsdirect shows tham at .99 ea but in package of 5
with shipping thats 17.85 for 10pcs

were you able to get just 6 from dealer?

i find that people who use the clips, are the same people who never remove the tag on their mattress. they do nothing.

My mattresses are NEW and I DID remove the tags!As for the clips?I put them ON!I think they do DO something! If you remove the clip, the injector can move down.Doubt if it would leak but it would have a chance to move. That's all!:)

I got them at my local GM dealer. Wow, I didn't think these clips were so contraversial. I just figure they spent the time and money to design them so they have some purpose. I have skipped parts in the past and later found out they were needed.

Actually, NO, they can't move up or down for that matter, with or without the clips. They serve no function once everything is in place. As was stated earlier, they serve to make quick assembly easier, and aid in disassembly (arguably).
