When buying 50's is there a certain brand to buy or are they only made by one company. How do you think 50's would work with my combination?Bruce

Personally, I think the 36# injectors will be fine until you go into the motor and port the heads or add a cam or both. The 36#/TA49/Thrasher/stock motor is a proven combo that will take a relatively stock car into the 11's (T108).

The common 50# injector is made buy dephi, its black and silver with a smooth body. These are also known as MSD 50's as Delphi made them for MSD. with a proper chip, 50# injectors will work fine with your combo. The combo you currently have should work fine as well, though.

You asked for an opinion, so here is mine. For the few dozen or so GN's I have set up for the street and occasional strip down to the 12.0 range, no one has ever been disappointed with 36# injectors. Great street manners, good drivability, wonderful response and lots of chips that will work fine with them. Stock or upgrade LU converters are compatible.

The case of "building for the future" many times ruins the present. Proper combination is very important for our cars. Why over build for now, when you may never go further? And if you do, the parts are very sale-able, so upgrades are not really expensive. Actually, a properly set up combination will run high 11's with 36#er's. I have seen lots of "overbuilt" turbo cars having a hard time breaking into the 11's since the combination is not proper and LOTS more $$$$ was spent.

As far a 50's, personally had more trouble getting those through our emissions test than all others combined. All the good things I said about the 36#'s above do not apply to the 50's I have had experience with tuning.

Think you need to first decide where you want to go with your car's performance over the next few years and put together a plan for that.

Yes, I think the MSD-50's will work fine with your combo. My GN is very similar to yours except V4 intercooler and TE-51 (ran TE-44 before for a long time and the 51 isn't much bigger). I ran 36lb blue tops, static Thrasher 108 chip, and I ran outta fuel at boost levels more than 22 psi (knock) in the low, low 12 second range with 02s dropping. I was running 47 psi static fuel pressure with a hot wired Walbro 340 at the time which I think was more than pushing them enough. I switched over to MSD-50's and was able to run 25+ psi no problem. Car picked up 5 tenths after I had fuel and was able to tune it out little further much safer without knock using 91 octane and SMC alchy kit.

I'd see what your car can do with the 36lb blue tops cause they are a very nice injector. Some can go low 12's while others mid 11's. I don't think you can go wrong with the MSD-50's either.

I have no experience with the smog tests since I live in Iowa so I can't comment on that.

Would bluetops work with 49/44 turbo, mildly ported heads, 206/206 cam if you run lower boost levels on pump gas? Would they go static at say 18 psi?
