I just got my AEM 30-4100 A/F gauge. The instructions state to mount the 02 sensor 36" downstream from exhaust port if running a turbo?

What's your take on this? I did a search and I've seen a few mounted much closer to the exhaust port.

12 to 18 inches past the turbo housing is what I have always been told. That is where I have put all my WB O2 sensors.

i did mine sa far as possible. actually its only accessibe from under the car...

It say's 18 inches for a normal car but 36 for turbo. I want to make sure I get an accurate reading and not burn up the sensor

also make sure you place it where the sensor can not accumulate moisture/condensation to improve life of sensor

Depends who you ask, one thing that is important is the sensor should be mounted on the top side of the pipe so moisture cant pool up and foul the sensor. Mine sits where the ac accumulator used to be, theres a nice clearance in the fender there, looks like it came that way. I'm running an external wastegate too, so I was sure to mount the sensor after the discharge pipe merges back into the downpipe.

It would be easier to mount it farther away simply for drilling and welding the bung. Maybe I'll pick a happy medium at 24 ish.

I mounted mine under the car at the 10 o' clock position just as the curve of where the DP staightens out. The data wire goes over the trans belhousing and into the fire wall through a pre-exisiting hole.

How many inches would you guess that is?

I had the bung installed before I installed the DP made it a lot easier but it was risky because if if you go to high of an angle the floor pan will not allow you to put the sensor in.

I have a lift and welder so I'll install the 02 with the pipe on the car. That way I know it will fit.

36" give or take. Too close will burn it up. It will show a tad leaner the further down stream you go.

I'll be installing it this weekend. Can't drive the car because I don't have the MAF yet, I took the car to the car wash last night and barely got back.

I fixed the Map sensor vacuum lines also. I dedicated a line for the Map sensor and ran boost off the passenger side vacuum line to the canister. I had a voltage booster off the alternator and Alkycontrol told me to unhook it so I did. That's where I got vacuum for the boost gauge.

Will do! I am having the new tires mounted today so I'll post up some pictures later today if I can get the car to back out of the shop.

Here's where mine is:

I have a PLX and mine is where Daves is as well. According to PLX instructions thats where turbo cars should have it
