The insurance company I've been with for the last 15yrs just cancelled my policy because they say that I admitted to my agent that I use my private passenger autos for racing:confused:

My agent I personally know(long long time ago brief girlfriend), she basically assumes I race my cars but I've never outright admitted what I do, I think adding the TTA to the policy(almost a yr ago) which already had two turbo buicks was the breaking point.

I had to take the TTA in for her to see in order to have full coverage on it, at that point she may have asked if I'm going to be racing the car which I didn't admit to but may have jokingly smirked or said something, don't really remember but thought she was a friend and didn't care.

I have never filed a claim, no accidents(me or my wife), no tickets of any kind, have 3 other every day driver cars, never missed a payment and I pay almost 4k a yr for all my vehicles.

Not sure if I'm going to confront her about this but I am going to have the PA Ins Dept review what they are doing to fight this. In the meantime I'll be looking for a new Ins company, not Erie.. If anyone has had good results with another Ins. company with these cars let me know:)

To get answers and a possible reversal call the Dept of Insurance in your state and tell them your story.

Your agent can't cancel your policy just cause you mentioned it to her either joking or not.

If you lookin any autopolicy you will see there is no coverage anyway when you race as it is an organized road race and if you crash your car on the dragstrip there is no coverage period. So when you or any of us take our TRs to the drag strip there is no coverage on your standard auto policy, coverage begons again if you get into an accident to and from the track.

Call the PA Dept of insurance I am sure you will get results and hopefully a reinstatement.

Best of luck.

Might read your policy, most don't cover racing, and if it even appears that you might, they can cancel you. Insurance co.s aren't like the legal system, there is no assumption of innocence.

Insurance agents, are rarely *true* friends, they're often friendly as a matter of just doing business, IMO.

I was with USAA. When they got wind that I might occasionally take it to the track, they made me sign a statement stating that I do not race the car. I signed it and then cancelled the coverage. Went with a local company with limited mileage vintage policy for considerably cheaper. Car is now race only. New company still wont cover track accidents, but they won't cancel me either for racing since my agent has a 10 sec race car himself.

I know they will never cover me if anything happens at the track and I don't care, that's the risk I take and I'm fine with that. The thing that really pisses me off is ever since I've had my kids(last 4 +yrs) I probably only average 2 times to the track a year:( Its not like I go every weekend and the GN and TTA usually average less then 1k mi a year and the Ttype hasen't been on the road for almost 2 yrs now:( I was planning on droping coverage on it.

Dump them and call Grundy.com, no one will cover a track accident, but I have 15K of coverage for 163/yr.

Really You pay 163 with grundy? I must be getting ripped because I paid Grundy 240 for 15k for my 86 GN for a year policy & the dam thing sits in garage dead for 6 months.
