Hey guys, I know this is not tech related but I need some new insurance and I was told that there are couple of companies that offer classic car insurance for the GN. Any ideas?? Thanks!!

haggery classic car ins. I have mine insured with agreed value of 20k that way if someting happens they cut me a check for 20k so i can get another one.

Insurance

Yes, I have Haggerty and they are great and the premium,s are low,but you have to meet some requirements like it has to be in a garage, must not be your primary vehicle, and only used for pleasure cruising.

My GN is insured with State Farm as a classic. It worked out well since I have 4 vehicles and home owners insurance with them. I also have to meet similar requirements as mentioned above.

Grundy Worldwide, same as others, agreed value and has all the restrictions, just no mileage restriction per year. All "classic" insurance will have those restrictions, thats why you only pay $230 a year for full coverage on a $20k value car.

230? i have 4 cars with haggerty total coverage of 100k and pay 714 a year agreed value thats 3 cars at 20k and one at 40k

I have Haggerty classic insurance as well, I have it valued at $25,000 and if something happens..... I have a grace period and get my money... They are great to work with, but I did not like the full payment up front deal...

If you plan to put a cage in the car, you better check there rules and regualtions for a roll cage/bar in a street car. IN Canada, a cage is not allowed on the street, with most insurance company's and you policy could be cancelled.

insurance users

for those of you using Haggerty or other classic insurance,
do you tell them your car is performance modified, or tell them its stock ?

Ive been considering switching to one of these but i store my car
over the winter off of my property so im not sure how that would work..

Hmm, seems like I got an estimate from Haggerty when I was shopping back 3-4 years ago. Do they have a mileage limit per year? May also depend in what area you're in.

http://www.hagerty.com/ But when you try to get a quote online it says the car must be built in or before 1986 ?? oh maybe I need to try "exotic" for newer cars instead of stock...let me try that.

Yep, "exotic" got it to work...boy, for my 3 cars I pay $708 total with Grundy, the quote from hagerty was $1,002  This is for the GN, 79 TA, and 89 TTA.

Jesus, I've got to move. My '86 GN insured to $20k cost $311 from Grundy. Haggerty quoted me $338. Damn NY!

OK...old thread I know but I have some comments.

I just got a quote from Hagerty for my 87 GN.

Told them 25k value as that is what KBB says.

She said 730.00 a year. Seems kind of high doesn't it?

900 damn my agent must love me as i have 4 cars with hagerty and my 86gn is at 20k and i pay less for all 4 of my car with a total of 100k ins. I hope your agent wasnt standing behind you with that quote ;)

Grundy's online quote came in at 670ish.

American Insurance came in at 591ish.

I pay 722ish through AAA and that is for whatever they feel like paying if anything happens so CLEARLY I need to go elsewhere.

Anyone have either Grundy or American Insurance and have any negative things to say about them?

Insurance.

I was going to use a place in a chicago suburb that insures classic cars but the documentation requirements were hard for me to show. I ended up getting a similar policy for a lil bit more thru my state farm agent. Hes right around the corner and insured my car for 12K in value. not bad for a former v8 Limited car. State Farm is the only company that replaces damaged panels with original equipment parts. Another reason why Im with them.

I just tried my T limited as an exotic with HAGS insurance
Gee $385 that is a lot for 15k coverage.

Grundy is about 200. I think I be switching from GIECO to Grundy.
