Has anyone ever designed one of these for your cars? I did some work for the VW crowd and was wondering if any of you were interested. You can check out the post on Clubb5.com it is lengthy. I can design them for any boost pressure up to 30 psi. This is an information gathering post not a solicitation to sell anything.

Interesting...

I took a few secs and looked at what you're offering. Also read the other forum you had a link to. Yes, that does look nice enough. Looks very OEM as a matter of fact.

I just have a question. You are aware that the GN already has a stock led boost gauge? Granted it's not accurate anymore but it is there. Now if you could fix that and the tach, THAT'D be interesting.

See what others think.

That is kind of why I asked. I have had lots of requests>>

To put additional accurate boost gauges in the tachs of cars with stock gauges, they simply use those for vacuum measurments. Most stock gauges on any car I have tested have been grossly innacurate.

GN?

Do you have a photo of the cluster you can send me?

I like that! Injector DC is a plus too. Let me know if you get something going on these with pricing.

COOL!!

I have a 1996 Impala SS with a turbo

It NEEDS something just like this!!.

I can probably get a spare cluster to send to you for mods.

For other purposes...

I think that gauge would be nice for those that are looking for that OEM look. I was just wondering if you were interested in fixing the LED gauges that are already there... at one time they were accurate.

Take a look at the stock setup...

hEY HEY HEY ,,DONT GIVE UP SO SOON.....wE ARE INTERESTED...
dANG CAPS KEY STUCK AGAIN:eek:

OK OK.... Caps Not Stuck!

After looking at that photo. firstly, the cluster dial appears to be a single piece unit. Secondly I am not sure there is room for a 20 segment display on it. Maybe in the middle of the speedo at the top. But if there are other indicators behind there, that may be another obstical. If I could see behind the main dial I could evaluate it further. Also how many segment is the current boost gauge, 10 or 15?

Anone got a spare cluster they can take apart for me and take some pics.

In my experience, now I am not familiar with this car. The GM clusters are almost a sealed unit, and the ones I have looked at are impossible to strip apart. As my solution involves drilling the dial and bonding indicators into it it may be impractal.

Hense my previous statement.

Commercial Gauges are cheap.

That is a misprint on the price if the first it is $185 not $165 but I fixed it.

I know it is a lot more expensive, that is because it is not an analog meter. Analog is cheap, and actually quite slow. Good electronic gauges are over $300 - 400.

"Stealth" as in concealed looking (not the Stealth car) is always more than just slapping a round gauge some place.

Again, I am still not convinced it is a good solution for your car as I have not seen behind the cluster.

One Of your Members asked me to post this link.

It is an option for a DIY installation of one of a 30 psi Gauge. Basically what the picture shows is a very compact 20 segment boost control Unit (3.5"x1.5"x.7") and the appropriate wiring to the 20 segments. The sensor shown will be replaced with the Larger 3 Bar Map Sensor that a lot of you may know. It is a little more bulky at about 3"x2"x1" with a 1/4" NPT male fitting that can be teed into your existing Vacuum lines.

Also you will see a a ribbon cable that is connected into the Boost control unit. This has 20 Indicator Lamp Signal wires and 1 common Indicator Power Wire. The other wires are just +12v and Ground (-Ve Ground). In the setup mentioned (0 - 30 Psi) each indicator reads 1.5psi (30/20) a 20 and 25psi option is available. It also comes with 20 LED style indicators of your Choice. 3mm, 5mm in sizes and choices of Red, Amber, Yellow and Green. Normally one uses Green up untill 50% of the Range (1 - 10 indicators) and Yellow for the 11 - 15 Indicators) and Red for the last 5 Indicators) Please email me if you have any questions.

Casper's does have the fix for the stock LED's, but a higher boost led sure would be COOL.

Is there a peak boost hold feature?

Can the unit be calbrated either by a pot. or other means?

TIA :)
