OK this is the response I was looking for! To be totally honest, I have never seen a door off the car, could someone post a pic of the inside?

To the best of know knowledge when painted CF should look just like any other part. I dont know a whole lot about the process, but these are all questions I will ask my guy.

I dont see why fenders would be an issue either, but Im going to start out slow with the hood more than likely.

So the next question is would yall like a stock style or pin on hood? Also who makes a bolt on trunk lid?

You will sell more stock style bolt on hoods.

On the doors, if you do decide to tackle it, IMO it has to have the crash beams in it to not only with help street safety but with sales. Since it's carbon fiber it won't add much weight yet be really strong and allow it to be safe on the road, maybe even safer is you use the stock wall thickness on the beams etc.

i would be interested too if they would match well with glossy black paint and dont stand out too much from that color. if you did the doors maybe you could offer a total kit with hood trunk and doors?

I'd be interested in the Hood and Trunk lid and possible down the road the doors. Keep use posted. Would like to repaint my car:smile:

OK here is the deal:

Got with my manufacturer yesterday and here is what we are looking at.

The price for the hood will be 750$ shipped to your door. The price of the trunk lid will be 575$ shipped to your door.

Now, here is my only hold up... The first order has to be for 10 of each. So basically I would need 9 orders on top of my own before I could move forward. It would be about 4 weeks after I get all 10 orders until you would receive your hood, but could possibly take 6. Now, I dont mind doing the hood now and the deck lid later, but if I get 10 orders of each then we are are business for whatever we want made. (so if we want fenders or bumpers of anything else we would need a group buy of 10)

Now the doors are going to be an issue since we cant copy the OEM part directly. Im going to investigate that after I get everything else rolling.

The parts will be a direct copy of the stock OEM parts. Apparently it is a lot easier to copy oem parts in CF than fiberglass and the fit is a direct copy of the part that was copied!

SO, if you're serious about purchasing now, then please start PMing me. I would like to see who all is ready to purchase and then we will get the ball rolling! The time frame for receiving your new parts is slightly exaggerated because it could take a little time getting everything right.

As of right now, I consider this a group buy for the forum... I MAY start a small company if there is a market for this sort of product and then I will definitely become a supporting vendor, but please dont jump on me to become one yet! I have every intention of doing so, but Im not really a vendor yet... just and organizer right now.

If you are a serious buyer with the means to pay now, pleas feel free to call me or PM me. My cell phone number is 281-782-0468 and Im pretty much available any time. If I dont answer then leave a message and I will get back to you asap! I will be using paypal, and my new account is being verified right now so you will have all of the protection benefits of paypal.

Question for you!

Adam,
I forgot to ask, what are you planning to do in terms of latches? Will this
hood bolt to the factory hinges and use the front hood lock, or is it going
to be a pin-on deal for the front? My preference, and I think your market
will be stronger, is for a stock-type replacement that accepts the factory
hardware, except for the gas hood springs. Great job on getting this going
by the way. I'd like to know about my question before I fully commit.
Sincerely,
John A, Turbohh

So is it going to be a natural finish, or this *dark* carbon fiber that you mentioned? Natural might look a bit ricey, this darker option has me interested.

i want to know if it could be painted . I want the doors cause of the strength of carbon fiber I'll paint them JET GN BLACK BABY no rice look here just meat and potatoes !

It's going to be natural finish. Turns out the dark finish I was thinking about was tinted clear.

These parts can be painted like any other part or left raw. Once painted they will look 100% stock and no one would ever know you have a CF hood. A friend of mine has an SS with a CF hood and you would never know.

Interested in the near future. Please make this happen. I've seen too many Great ideas like this not see a finish. I'm planning on a FG hood and bumpers.
But if your can do it in CF I'll probably do a decklid and finders too.

Thanks for the hard work. I think it will pay off.

Joe

What would a complete body go for (roof to floor pan)? (less doors, trunk , and front clip)

Im not gunna lie that would be sick. I know they make reproduction shells of other cars in fiberglass, but I dont think the CF manufacturers have gotten that good yet. That would be crazy though, you could have a 2500lb grand national ahahaha.

ZR1 from the roof forward is CF

Adam The new ZR1vette with the superchargedLS9 engine from the splitter back , fenders, hood and roof are made from carbon fiber. almost 1/2 the body is CF . Looking forward to your CF products wish I had the coin right now to be apart of the hood group purchase just can't swing right yet .

Preproduction models Carbon-fiber roof panel, roof bow, front fascia splitter and rocker moldings with clear-coated, exposed carbon-fiber weave hown. Actual production model may vary. Arrives late summer . They use some special agent over the epoxy-clear coat on the exposed CK that keeps it from yellowing that cost 16K a gallon.
Exclusive exterior

The ZR1 is instantly recognizable, with perhaps the most identifiable feature a raised, all-carbon-fiber hood that incorporates a clear, polycarbonate window. The window provides a view of the top of the engine's intercooler, with the legend “LS9 SUPERCHARGED” embossed on the left and right sides, and an engine cover with the Corvette crossed flags logo debossed at the front.

The underside of the hood has an exposed carbon-fiber-weave. Exposed carbon-fiber is used on the roof, roof bow, rocker molding and front splitter. These exterior components are protected by a specially developed glossy, UV-resistant clear coat that resists yellowing and wear.

Widened, carbon-fiber front fenders with specific, dual lower vents, and a full-width, body-color rear spoiler incorporating the center high-mounted stop lamp, are also unique to the ZR1. All of the exterior features of the car were developed to enhance high-speed stability and driver control.Model:
2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR

Construction:
composite and carbon-fiber body panels, hydroformed aluminum frame with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components

Manufacturing location: Bowling Green , Ky..

Preliminary testing shows the ZR1 builds on the highly respected Corvette Z06 in every performance category, from acceleration and braking, to cornering grip and top speed,” “It all boils down to the power-to-weight ratio and the ZR1's is exceptional – better than the Porsche 911 GT2, the Ferrari 599 and even the Lamborghini LP640. In fact, the ZR1 is expected to be the first production Corvette to achieve a top speed of at least 200 mph.”

By the numbers

In addition to the exterior cues and powertrain, ZR1 models will be distinguished from other Corvette models by their VIN. Each will carry a unique, identifying VIN digit, as well as a sequential build number. This makes it easy to determine the build number of a specific car – information treasured by enthusiasts and collectors. For example, a ZR1 with a VIN ending in “0150” would indicate it is the 150 th ZR1 built for the model year

CF really is the next big thing In my opinion. As technology progresses I think we will see more and more OEM carbon fiber parts. The stuff is not only light, but tuff as nails... I looked up those promod car bodies and they only weigh 95lbs... that's insane! The fiberglass bodies we run on our monster trucks weigh around 300lbs! We do a little bracing here and there, but still if the price were not double what we pay Im sure there would be A LOT more CF parts floating around.

I just bought a new helmet that has the complete outer shell molded out of CF. It not only looks sweet, but it is really light. Check it out http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/hjc/carbon/hjc-ac-12-carbon-helmet.gif

I had a Cl-14 before I bought the CF cl-14 model and I really like the new one.

Im still investigating all of my options for getting these 1st 10 made.

You certainly have my attention. Clearly everyone else's as well.

The hood and decklid are no brainers but need the factory latch and hinging to be especially attractive. I want to buy them and bolt them on. Also, the fenders and doors would be pretty hot for sure since a lot of us could stand to replace ours. The doors might be tricky to allow for safety, powered options and all that - but count me in for a hood and fenders this winter coming up if you get this project going nicely.

Also - the header panels on these cars could be made to incorporate the bumper fillers as well I am thinking, and I know there is some demand for both.
How about a one piece header panel/fenders/bumper fillers bolt on front clip?
One piece and save a ton of weight?

Anyone? What do you guys think?
