I was reading my new issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords (isn't that an oxymoron?;) ) and saw an article on methanol injection on a blown 5.0 'Stang. It was a kit VERY similar to Julio's (Razor), and used the exact same pump if I'm not mistaken. What suprised me is they had better results on pump 93 and methanol vs. 116 race fuel! If I read correctly, they picked up like 78 horsepower over the 116 because of the cooling effect and the fact the car was not intercooled. I know a lot of members here frown on alky injection and prefer the safety of race fuel, but if I'm reading this correctly, the meth/ pump gas combo is far better at resisting detonation vs. race gas, at least on a non intercooled car. Kinda flies in the face of some of the "common" logic around here, huh?

Julio, I highly reccommend you pick this issue up, there may be a whole new market you're missing out on! The kit in the article was $399, and was semi progressive. Kicked on at 3 psi and was at full blast at 5 psi. Must have had an internal map sensor. Knowing what your current kits include and what you are capable of, I bet you could cut that price by $50.

Just an FYI

Well see I had similar experience posted on my own car. Whereby the highest boost I could run was 24 on my car with teh PT51 turbo and race gas/chip. Any higher and the knock would start coming up. Why? Becuase of the small turbo and stock IC creating more heat/detonation than the race gas could handle. Drop in an alky kit.. bada bing.. 30 PSI on less octane gas with a less timing chip.

The Buick crowd would say.. put a better IC, and put on a bigger turbo.. then the air wouldnt be so heat soaked. Thats the response I got when I posted findings like that.

Had someone with the Mistang posted here, the answers would have been... put an IC on the motor. See its different strokes for different folks.

My kit is cheaper.. take out a few items that the other doesnt come with.. its there ;) (hint.. 3 bar map, filter, etc)

Thanks for sharing.. there is a lot more research going on in the background..

:D

I've been posting onTurboMustangs.com about Julio's kit and how it helped me but seems most people are not listening. Then again, nobody listens to me since I drive a 4x4 truck :)

I need to get an IAT sensor so I can monitor what my temps are before and after the Alk. Before the ALk I am at 160deg (no IC). Maybe then I can get more people to listen.
