I know there is a way to tell, just can't remember. Is it on the truck tag? What to look for. thanks

My two wooden nickels.....

A trunk SPID label is easily reproduced (faked). Look at the cowl tag, 19U 19L and LACQUER what to look for. Unless the tag, or the entire cowl area has been swapped from a real GN, that will tell the truth.

If someone really went through the trouble to do that, walk.... no, RUN away, because they are probably hiding, or trying to hide alot more about the car.

Actually the only thing that 19U and 19L is going to tell anyone is that the car came painted black. GN's were hardly the only Buick G body's painted black.

Can't you get a carfax verification now and they will certify the car is correct?

carfax will show ttype/grand national per the 8th digit on the vin.. will show 7 for turbo... you need the rpo to verify the WE2 grand national package.. if no RPO present because sometimes the trunk needs replacement per rust or w/e... the spid tag (the tag on firewall under driver wiper arm should show 19l 19u which indicates black paint upper and lower black paint code and it should say laquer also the spid tag should say W11 on the bottom left corner for an 87 GN... so check for that also make sure it has the 8.5 in the rear some scammers swap them for 7.5's before they sell them and screw people over different years have different things to look for example an 87 T would have y56 on the rpo which indicates T package and 86 and previous years would show w11 for ttype package..read up on the codes and color codes to understand what your buying and to make sure its legit its also a great tool for peace of mind when spending hard earned cash....

Yea The gn's have the w11 code on the bottom left corner of the spid. sorry for just putting 87 but its most years that i have seen which include 84,85,86,87 show the w11 . where did i find this from experience? no website?? maybe gnttype. would tell you something about it but yes a GRAND NATIONAL is born a t-type but then add a we2 package which makes it a GN which is the black paint and 2 tone interior..with w02 blackout sport trim etcc...
