I work maintenance at a tire factory in the curing area . Sweat so much last night my hands looked like I had been in the pool all day. Who thought up this working for a living thing ? I would like to have a word with them .

I know what you mean, I work in a steel mill.taking a break now.I sweat so much in here somtimes I change uniforms during the night! Lol!

I work in a lumber mill and it is hotter than the hinges of hell in there. It's brutal, they work us like a bunch of rented mules but the pay is pretty good for this area.

I'm just very thankful to be working! Feel bad for all those who are out.also helps keep that black car rolling lol!

painting cars in a pair of coveralls in a 90 degree booth on 90 degree days.... yes

Right about now I would rather work outside than inside the garage. It is hot and humid in there and at least outside, there is a decent breeze other than the 83 degree air the "coolers" put out inside.

I spend most days in a 38 degree room. Nice on these warm days.Bio Pharmaceuticals.Cooling is to protect the prosses not for the benefit of the employee.I feel for you folks that work in non air conditioned places.

Before I moved to an IT career, I was shooting paint on air filters for power plants. The heat index inside the booth was 137F...no exaggeration. I had a thermometer and hygrometer I would monitor throughout the day. In this crazy heat I also had too wear a full paint suit face sock, full face respirator and rubber gloves.

That place provided all the motivation I needed to change my life so I didn't have to retire like that. 5'8" 135lbs I looked like I was dying. A co-worker told me that if I caught aids, I would be dead in a week. I couldn't eat because my body couldn't recover from the heat stress.

Now I sit in a room that never goes above 69F.

The last 12 years I've been in the military I've worked in a non air conditioned bulding that also serves as a greenhouse by trapping hot air and not being able to relive it. Add on top of that the humidity and you have a recepie for swamp ass.

The only time at work that its really unbarable is when I have to crawl over all the equipment in one our worktrucks to get the damn side doors to open. Once your in, your pretty much stuck till you get the doors to open. Though, the first thought that comes to mind as you feel like your melting is....isn't this how "Bloodsport" began with Van Damm in that tin box?

I just spent 400$ fixin my ac in my van and i did everything myself but vacum the system out and refill it..that part was $45 from a friend of mine.. imagin drivin thu laredo tx and other parts of the south where its 100 degrees + in a van with no rear windows its like ridin in a toaster oven!!!!

Just started my new job and we are outside in the sun all day...I live in the northern part of the county which is almost the high desert. 114 yesterday on the pavement!!!!! I found out the hard way that black people can sunburn .

I work on the Runway and its hotter than a 4 balled Tomcat. We have a few pieces of our equipment in pits underground and they are even worse. Its a sweatfest, Humidity you can cut with a knife. The Summers in the dirty arent kind

HOT, did you say HOT!

I thought I knew wat hot was working 14+ years in gasturbine engine rooms aboard ships. That was until I started working in a 50 year old fosil fuel power plant:eek: I swear there are places in that plant that must be nearly 150 or more and no ventilation. One day I'm going to bring in a thermometer to work with me and check, we have no thermometers outside of the electronic spaces:rolleyes: Even the hand rails will burn you without gloves on.

It's the a$$holes that use us so they can get rich and enjoy the good life. That is who thought of it. They pay the politicians to keep it that way too. Or I should say we pay for them.

I am a roofer, and we took a small thermometer on the roof to see what the temp was,and it pegged out at 130* Im not sure how much higher it would have went... So 130*+,direct sun light, with the high humidity of Alabama, yeah its hot where I work..

I just got back from a deployment to Djibouti not too long ago. With the heat index (where you take in consideration, how it feels, with the humidity as a factor) it was rated at 141 degrees. AND, we were in uniform. Long sleeves, long pants, combat boots, and pc. (hat) After you get out of the shower, the second you stepped out of the shower trailer, it feels as if you never even showered to begin with... lol. It was SWEET hehehe. Can't complain though. I made GOOD money.
What sux is, that the offices have to have really good air conditioners in them, cuz of the computers. The heat there would DESTROY a computer in short order. So you'd be in the office for a few hours, in the air, then walk out for chow, and the sun would hit you like mike tyson. And I'm not exaggerating either. I think there's a member on here who was in DJ as well. He'll tell you....

You would wash your PT shoes (running shoes), and put them out on the rocks to dry, and they'd dry, no ****, in like 2 minutes. Lol. It was stupid..
