Hey all I have an 86 Gn with 100 something thousand miles on it that I bought for $5000 because it broke the timing chain and the previous owner didn't feel like messing with it. Basically I am wanting to sell the car now and am wondering what it would be worth with a brand new rebuilt motor.
.030 over, 10/10 crank, billet mains, HV oil pump, TRW pistons, 36lb injector's, modified intercooler, etc.

Brand new rebuilt Trans. Stage 2 kit from CK with some other minor stuff.

Decent interior. Probably a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1-10

Brand new base/clear paint job with wet sanding all done by me. Also minor hail dmg repair also done by me.

All new shocks and springs, New bushing in the front end.

Also the car is and astro-roof car with a 255lb/hr fuel pump in it.

I am just trying to get an approximate of what she might sell for or what I might ask for her if I actually decide to let her go.

As it sits...5 or 6k. Running and tuned...7-9k depending on the overall package. Miles are not really the bad thing, its the body and engine condition. Anything over 100k miles won't be bringing big money for another 10-20 years IMO.

The engine is brand new with 0 miles on it so far and the body is in good condition minus the hail dmg. there is no rust on this car. I am basically wondering if I want to spend the time painting the car and replacing some of the interior or if in the end I will have just spent a lot of time and gained no more money out of it.

How do you justify throwing more money at a high mile car with a whole shopping list of needs when there are so many low miles GNs in good to excellent condition that don't bring big $$$. One trip to Ebay should tell you everything you need to know. If it's strictly a money consideration, to me, the answer is obvious - sell it and cut your loses - you will not get your "repair" money out of it.

personally I wouldn't drop another penny into it .. you are most likely goin to loose some $$$ but try to find the "one" person who needs the car and ya might do a little better

is the timing chain the only 'certain' problem?
I replaced mine after it broke and had no other issues.
