here is what i have done..brand new f-body rad, dual spal fans,160 stat, trans cooler LPD4590. i drove the car yesterday on a hour commute and the scanmaster readings got as high as 195 most of the drive was highway and it was 113 deg outside:eek: . does it sound like everything is good? i have read that guys with the same setup dont see temps over 175-180 but they are in cooler type weather. so im posting here in the southwest section hoping arizona and new mexico can chim in and see what kind of temps they run in really hot weather. i also run a front mount so i just orderd the air box kit to see if that helps. thanks

Drove mine home from work today. Saw 200 at one time, then it cooled back down slightly to 191 after I got off the freeway.
I'll be curious to see how that kit works for you. I really believe with a front mount at highway speeds the path of least resistance is around rather than through the radiator. At lower speeds the fan does a better job of pulling air through the radiator.
Not sure exactly what the temp. was today around 4:45 but probably 110 - 112

yup it was 112. the fans work great they cool the car down pretty fast at idle. but the highway seem to be the problem.

actually the fans are always on. they turn on as soon as the key is turned over..why i dont know. its been like that since i bought the car. so do i have a problem or does the outside temp of 113 justify the 195 coolant temp

Drive it early morning and see if it's better. I drove mine to work this morning at 0630 and saw 184 max. Cooling down to 170's after I got off the freeway.

Injdinjn: FYI, there's no switch controlling fan operation. It's computer controlled. I do believe a chip guy can manipulate the on/off temps. though.

Ambient plus 100* is not far off. So, looks like you are well within that range.

If you are starting the car for the first time and the fan is coming on you have a problem.

cehck the relays and the wiring. the fans should not come on until you reach the temp set in the ECM. That is with the AC off. If the AC is on then they will kick on automatically.

On my GTA there is a temperature controlled fan switch in the head. Stock on GTAs is ~220 i have been told the GN are about 190 and will fit the hole in the head. If this is true i want to change mine.
