1ARUNEM----very good response.
Just out of curiousity why would you not classify a "cajun" as "white"?
--Im not putting a classification on him as not being white or something. When i asked him where was he from and what is your ethnic makeup, he said he was from louisiana and he was "cajun". Then my other friend bigchris proceeded to tell me that "cajuns" are people with a mixture of different ethnic groups within their family or bloodline. Its just that i had never met one perse or really knew too much information about it. When he opened his mouth you would have sworn he came out of the projects of south central.
I am as "white" as they get as is most every other "cajun/coonass" I grew up with. Now if you are talking about a "Mulato", that is a bird of a different color, pun intended, and NOT to be confused with a Cajun. They, rather, are people from the islands who came to south Louisiana and intermixed.
--So what you are saying that he is in fact a "mulatto" and not a "cajun"
--Man it gets weird when people try to put classifications on other people, im learing too many things too fast about this.
Question--Doesnt society have this thing where they say that if you have a certain percentage of black ancestry in you, you are considered black?
Why then should my taxes and hard earned dollars go to benefit minority programs, welfare recipients or any other program that "pays back" our "debt" to the black culture?
--All the programs you mentioned abovet were not designed to only benefit or payback the black culture. They benefit all minority cultures which is defined as cultures who are disadvantaged against the ruling majority because of a different ethnic origin, not volume.
When I went to college, I paid 100% retail price and worked the whole time I was there. Why can't there be an organization to benefit me as there is for blacks who need assistance, i.e. the UNCF.
--The reason why they are still in existence, organizations like you mentioned, is because at one time in us history colored people and peole of different ethnicities, even all women, were not ALLOWED to have an education. This is the reason why you have historically black, hispanic and so on universities. They weren't allowed to be taught, so they rebelled and started there own schools and taught themselves. In doing so they began programs to help specifically colored/different ethnic people b/c no one else would at the time and today still feel that there people are at a disadvantage. It is such a big issues with schools that almost all schools must have a certain percentage of different ethnicities these days, i even think they get incentives for doing that.
The youth of the black culture needs to quit imitating the thugs they see on TV, get a reality check (not a welfare check) and then learn what it means to be a man (i.e. take care of their kids, their families and hold down a job so they can be an ASSET to society and not another liability my taxes pay for.)
--Its not just the youth of the BLACK culture but the youth of ALL CULTURES in america needs a reality check. Not all BLACK families use the government for support, mine didn't. We must face it, the groups of ethnicities that take advantage of our tax payers dollars, include african american, white, asian, hispanic, etc.
But, will we EVER get to the point that the black man does not claim he is OWED by the WHITE MAN. Unforntunately, not during my lifetime or my children's.
--Your right, some people will never let go of the past and will always preach on the same old broken record. I believed that the term used "OWED" does not mean monetary gain or land, but i believe it now means, the equal opportunity to advance.
--From personal experience i can tell you that when i left highschool i recieved a military scholoarship to a historically black univeristy, meaning like 99%. Do you know how long i lasted there, 1 year. The reason is i didnt fit in. Ask yourself, how the hell could this man not fit in? There is no diversity there, some people there think on the same plane, some sing the same tune. Damn it i need diversity, that was probably one of the biggest mistakes i made in my life, b/c it wasted my time.
--All that i believe the black community or any other community for that matter is asking is fairness. If you and i apply for a job with everything being equal except our skin color, that neither one of us is picked b/c the workers at that office are predominately one race, the interviewer is one race, the big boss is one race. I want to be picked b/c they feel firmly that i can do the job based on my qualifications, thats what people are fighting for these days, not money.
