Looks like an aftermarket sunroof to me. I had a chevy lumina that had an aftermarket sunroof and it looked exactly like that.

I have a factory moonroof and the seals on the moonroof and not the car. I am not sure if the factory changed that for different model years.

Anyone have or able to take a picture of a factory astroroof to post so that I can see the differences? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out.

aftermarket !!! GM one doesn't have a moulding around it .. lemme look in my pic junk

This is a factory astroroof removed from an 86 GN. The pic is a little crappy, but as you can see the worn out seal is around the glass itself and not the hole in the roof. If you need pictures of one installed in a car I can do that. Just let me know...

Real easy to tell. If the switch is black it's dealer/aftermarket installed. If the switch is chrome like the power window switch it's a factory installed moonroof.

I think thats an ASC sunroof, looks like the one on my 84. Stainless roof moulding & glass trim. Wish they were black. @ Jim from Philly, mine has chrome switch.

That what it looks like, thats the one the dealer installed when purchasing a car that didn't have one from the factory ASC. and also back then a factory roof slid inside the roof aftermarket roofs have the vent option.

I can't believe how many times I've gone out in the garage in my jammies late at night to learn something new about my car. I looked at my sunroof and sure enough there is no seal on the roof itself. The seal is on the window like bodycount said. Your shade looks like mine though. If yours is an ASC then I'd say it's pretty close to factory. Is it an option on your RPO sticker?

You can also check the trunk RPO codes for CF5 that would be factory installed moon roof for sure.

I have the same roof on my car, I can take a couple pics of mine to compare in necessary. I don't have the rpo code cf5 on trunk..but i do have the ASC sticker inside the glove compartment that shows install date. I also tracked the original dealer and showed that it was a dealer installed unit. Mine was installed at the dealer before original owner purchased it. The switch is a chrome piece and the glass has the asc marking on it.

Plus the factory CF5 has the plug for the emergency crank tool. Unless somebody covered it up when they replaced the headliner.

In the 2nd pic you can barely see the button. It's chrome like the power door lock switch. It would be real easy to replace a black button with a chrome one. You can get those switches at any autoparts store. Can't see if the hole for the crank is there.

X2 on the dealer/ASC installed roof. Have the same one on my car along with the ASC sticker in my glovebox. The vent option is nice. :) My headliner has a strange cut out behind the moonroof but before the light though as if there was something there before the moon roof got put in. I'll snap a pic and post it later.

How does the dealer installed ASC sunroof and/or other aftermarket sunroof affect the value of these cars?

The chrome switch is totally different then the black switches. Pretty sure you can't just swap the switch out. The headliner is different as well. Like Eric said there should be a plug right in front of the switch for the manual crank unless it's been recovered.

Makes no difference. It's like a T-top or hardtop car. All depends on what the person is looking for and their preference. Maybe a super low mile moon roof car might pull a tiny bit more then a hardtop car. Most people stayed away from the moon roof cars because that unit add some weight to the car that no one wanted.

This particular car has ~20K original miles. The sunroof is definately aftermarket because there is no CF5 code although it doesn't have ASC on it and appears to have the factory style chrome button. Don't know about the inspection hole but will find out. For some reason the fact that it's not factory bothers me. I would think since it does, it would have a negative impact on the overall value. I would be more interested in it if it had been left alone. May just be me though. Car has every available option except twilight sentinel and trunk kit.
