Sounds like a decent deal but I have never heard of that place and it is a used car lot.

If it ain't 217K it could be a nice car.

I bought my GN with 114K on it for about that same price.

Mine was loaded with astroroof but had some paint flaws and body work done to it.

Manchester is about 40 miles from me and I go up there occasionally for some side work.

Not sure exactly when I would be up that way again.

Cars rust up this way I hope you know. ;)

They cant rust any worse than they do around here. Minneapolis uses salt for everything on the road it seems. In the winter black roads are white from all the salt on them.

That car looks pretty straight. Its 1,000 miles away from me so I would really appreciate it if someone that owns a GN or has knowledge in them go to check it out. Rust really isnt a problem unless there are holes in the floor. Its more the motor and turbo that I am worried about. No sense in pushing a car 1,000 miles home.

EDIT: The ad says 117K miles on it, did I miss something?

Is it common out that way to de-badge a car? Could the reason there are no badges on the car be that it was rusted out and is now a bondo king?

Some guys take the badging off for a cleaner/stealthier look, but who knows if that's why it was done in this case? I'd take a run to check it out for ya, but I'm a little too far away. ;)

Just a tad further away than me.

Are GN's pretty rare down in Australia?

I'm actually from NJ, just over here studying.

Haven't seen one yet, doubt I will. I've never heard of any being over here , apparently Australia is pretty strict about what you can and can't bring in.

If you could post the hours of operation and street address of that place it would help me.

Ben lives in Manchester and works there too, maybe he knows about that car.

I may be going by that town this week during the day so try and get some info. on the shop.

the engine and turbo are the cheapest things to repair on a GN

rust/body work is much more expensive......get a solid body and don't worry about the motor

I am going to call the shop tomorrow and see if he still has the car. If he does I will get his address and phone number and post it up.

Thanks for the help. The last thing I need to do is buy a car 1,000 miles away to have it break down half way home.

It appears the vehicle is still available from viewing their personal inventory on their website.

Here is the address, phone number, and hours of operation.

I think the point was the odometer reads 17K so could be 117 or 217k? Closer look should tell.

I dont really want a t-top car but thats the best looking and best price GN I could find at the moment. Besides leaking in car washes and heavy rain are there any other draw backs to a t-top GN? I have a Camaro SS with t-tops right now so I am used to them, I just prefer a hard top, but at this point I will take what I can get. :)

I don't do carfax but I work for an insurance company and ran it thru our database that tracks accidents, thefts, total losses, etc... This came up clean with a shipping date from the factory of 3/2/87. Good luck if you decide to buy.

Thanks a lot for the vehicle check. Knowing it comes up clean will help me trust the dealer a bit more.

Now I am just waiting on the kind folks here that may be able to check it out for me in person to get back to me.

Mine is a T-Top. No problems but I usually lift and dry under where it sits when I wash the car. (not a daily driver) . Whoever checks out the car should look under the T-Tops. I have seen rust along the front sill on a few cars. I also just purchased a complete set of GM original Top weather stripping for $400 (ouch) as a spare. I would think there is an aftermarket cheaper set around. So be aware.

Hoping to get there tomorrow morning. :)

They better show up to work ontime. :D

Gonna be in the 90's tomorrow gonna test the A/C and under the T roofs if I have time and can figure out how they work. :)

I won't be looking under the car for matching motor numbers however, maybe on the tranny since that's easier. ;)

Only have about 20-25 minutes to check it out, gonna be a long day with lots of stops and work.

I called them and they still have the car. I offered an even up trade for my SS which made the guy sound like I was trying to rob him. To me, thats a good sign, they dont want to get ripped off, although my 96 wouldnt be a rip off I take care of my cars to the point that my fiance thinks I care more about them than her.

Thanks a lot for at least trying to check it out and checking the AC and the roof and what ever else you can. Let them know I have a couple of offers on my SS and should be able to pay cash for the car if things work out right.
