This was on my gn when I bought it and I'm thinking of something similar for my new t type. Was told once it looked like a steadfast collar and I'm wondering if these are still available? TIA

Thanks for the link! But holy crap I didn't know they were that expensive. I think other forms of anti theft will be the preferred route.

I can build something for free and/or run a chip with antitheft in it. The only real good thing about the collar is its a visual deterrent and might keep them from even trying. If they try to pry it off though, they will ruin the column regardless. I'm glad someone else paid to put the one on my GN.

They are expensive but work well.. I tried to get mine off and couldn't. I drilled it beat it with a hammer and none of that worked. I have a lot of play in my steering and need to fix it. Mine was also on car when I bought it.

Worth every penny. You never run into the "I will just be a minute" and not use some other anti-theft device. This is always there and makes it near impossible to DRIVE the car away. Hard to stop a tow truck though. So ask yourself, what is the cost of a column, broken glass, car? These things are like insurance, only expensive until you need it. I have this, kill switches, chips, .... AND my car never leaves my garage or when it is out my sight. One can never be too carefull.

How does this work? I use a big red column cover that covers the ignition and everything but I have to put it on and take it off everytime.

Buy a couple of columns and then tell me how expensive they are. Anti theft might disable the car but the thief trashing the column sux.

Truthfully guys I live out here in the sticks where no one will ever screw with it. I bet I could leave the keys in it (I never do), hell 80% of the vehicles in this town have the keys hanging in the ignition. I really like the "always there" aspect of the one on the GN and HELL NO it's not the only anti theft on that car, but this one garners a lot less attention (though it is my new DD) and I'd just like to have something on it. Odds of the column getting trashed even once are slim and quite frankly theres a lot of columns in my local JY and I will say that as soon as I can get full coverage on it I have a very, VERY good ins. adjuster. And since I do paintless dent repair out here in the sticks the insurance guys love me. It's not like it's parked in Detroit. I'm still thinking about it but I can get a chip with anti theft for less than half that and I need a chip for it anyway. Maybe a used one will pop up or something.

Replacement parts are only half, the hassle of labor r&r the broke stuff gets old after a couple. I will admit I don't drive mine daily anymore, and you may be in the sticks but there may be a time yours gets left out. The events like bg are prime hunting grounds for undesirables as evidenced by Mr billy and his setup getting jacked.
Might never happen to you, but I am very happy with my steadfast column guard.

Oh I admit I'm playing the odds and I know full well what happened at bg. It WILL have anti theft but I think I will play the odds on someone punching the column. If it happens once then I will have to get on here and admit you guys were right lol. I think there's a 50/50 shot they'd try to pry it off anyway.

I think there is something like that on Kansas city CL. You could do a search. He has two kinds. I think if you type in regal you can find them.

My car came with mine, but even if it didn't I would have added it. I had a n/a Buick Regal some years back and some punk a$$ kids broke the column and stole my car fron the driveway while I was inside sleep. Found the car the next day in front of there house only due to the battery dying in front of their house. None the less, it was a pita finding another tilt column and replacing it. I will never own a G body without the Steadfast collar again......
